My youngest babies barely let me get in a pet once in a while.
I picked one up yesterday, and he screamed and kicked like I was trying to kill him or something.
I get variations in who will get friendly and who will not. That is, except when they are older and sure want those treats.
I admit...
An update on my new baby.
HE is doing well now, and mama is letting him nurse. I held him for a little while, and he did not make a fuss or even squawk like many of them will.
His sister, the bottle brat, is now bigger than Mama.
I don't always get the chance lately, as I often don't feel up...
I have not heard that sound from any goats.
The summer before I got my first 3 goats, I went to a Boer Goat Show at the Ector county (Texas) Expo. While wandering around taking pictures, I heard a dog barking.
But there was no dog, LOL
Seems that some goats can make some rather unusual sounds...

My friend started her on a bottle...
Texas is a pretty large state. I know some places, but many I do not.
I moved here for good in 2005, and got my first goats in 2006.
About 2008, or maybe early 2009, I added Barbado hair sheep to the herd.
I also had a few chickens given to me some years back, and since have raised some from...
I have been raising goats for over 11 years now, and Barbado sheep about 9 or so.
I'm 80 now, and have COPD, so cannot do as much as I used to.
I live in Imperial Texas, a small community in Pecos County.
My neighbor does most of the feeding for me now.
She loves animals also.
We had to...
I'm lucky, as where I live there are no permits required.
Regarding milking goats, it helps if they get used to being handles as young as possible. I raised one who was fine with it, because I handled her from a baby.
So she was no problem. My herd queen as maybe 2 to 3 when I got her, but...
