    *graphic picture warning*

I just read thru all 14 pages in one sitting too. Very gross pictures but as you said everyone was warned. Hope I never go thru that myself. I just wanted to add that I had a doe that had no apparent injury to 1/2 of her udder but every time she kidded I could never get any milk out of one...

This is the first year that I have gotten girls (only 2 this year) so I will find out what my buck is contributing. He has so far given me about 95% boys. Still waiting for a girl year..... Edited to say: This is the first year that I have gotten girls to survive birth. I have gotten girls...

    teat size on mini macha

Both of them are well bred dairy lines. They aren't just "goats from down the road". one of them has kidded 4 times and raised her babies. I was hoping her teats would get bigger but it hasn't happened yet for her. Now I have another doe that kidded 3 weeks ago that I am trying to milk. I have a...

    ElectroNet Warning!

I'm not sure how the electro net works but if the net is touching the ground it was probably grounded out and not much current was getting the animal.

    teat size on mini macha

I have two mini manchas does that I want to milk. However they both have very tiny teats. Is this common in all F1 mini Manchas ? How can I get larger teats that I can actually grasp and not have to "two-finger"?

What's the best way to introduce two horses?

Hot wire to separate them is not a good idea. I once had a mare that was separated from other horses that she knew (had been pastured with them all summer) by an electric fence. They were separated for the winter because one guy did not think his horses needed to eat what the other horses were...

    Lawn mowers

is there a way you can cover the front of the cage while you mow? I once had rabbits in all stages of pregnancy and babies in the nest......(over 50 does ) behind a barn. There was a tree that was in danger of falling on the barn that needed to be cut down. I covered the cages with some...

    lezpedza hay

I buy hay from a local guy that lives right around the corner from me. He has a lot of lezpedeza (sp) in his hay. Is this a good hay to feed my goats? I read somewhere that that plant is good to help control worms. Is that correct? Is there any way to find out what the nutrition level is in hay?

    ALFALFA PELLETS

I ran out of hay once and since I was already feeding a mixture of beet pulp/alfalfa/hay stretcher I just fed them that for a day or two until I could get some more hay. The goats loved it but ended up with dirty butts and soft stools. Hay cleared them right up.

How bad is pig feed for goats?

One way to keep from being mobbed at feeding time is get a bucket you can put a lid on and snap it on. The goats are getting "rewarded" for bad behavior by getting a taste of feed every time they mob you. If you have a lid on the bucket and they don't get a taste they will eventually stop...

    LDG grooming checklist

Things you would need for grooming would be a slicker brush (brush with fine wire bristles that are bent at the end) pair of nail clippers, metal comb, ear cleaner and cotton balls. Don't get the brushes with the rubber/plastic on the tips of the bristles. They are useless for grooming and a...

    guardian dog controlling goat behavior?

I got after him for chasing her because he was still getting after her when she was 50-75 feet from his bowl. I don't mind him getting after them while he is eating to keep them out of the bowl. I don't want him guarding 1/2 of the pen. I feed him at the same time that I feed the goats in the...

    guardian dog controlling goat behavior?

I posted a while back about my Pyr attacking my buck. I have been really watching to see what triggers his behavior. He has food aggression so he gets after the goats when they get too close to his food which I understand. I have one doe in the pen now that will not leave his food alone. If he...

What to file goats horns with?

The one I banded was being a real meanie in the herd. He was ramming everybody for no reason. just because he could. He was the only one with horns and took advantage. I don't know how anybody can rate the pain caused by the band. How do they know it hurts? His horn fell off after a while with...

    Oh, no!

Are you trying to raise babies in a cage with multiple does in the cage? In my experience that will not work well. If they are not all due at the same time, the ones not due immediately will eat the hay out of the nest even if there are babies in the nest. If there are already babies in the...

    Nigerian Goat Enclosure

There is no set answer for hot wire fencing either. I use hotwire for my goats. I ran 3 strands from my knee to the ground and I still had one goat that would go thru it. She would scream when the current hit her but she would still go thru it. There was a 4th strand higher up for height and...
