Most are yes. But this is a certified non-gmo farm. We are lucky to have them. If you are in NC, they are Barrier Farms in Mt. Pleasant: https://www.facebook.com/BarrierFarms/ Really great people
I am trying to find non-gmo feed...that isn't $36 a bag. There is a feed mill near me that has a horse sweet feed but it is 12% protein. He also mills roasted soybean. According to Pearson Square, if I got a bag of that off him and mixed it 16% soybean and 84% sweet feed, then I would hit my 16%...
I have a sweet horse feed that is 12% protein. I want to supplement with sunflower seeds to bring that percentage up to 16%. Does anyone know how I can calculate this?
Appreciate it guys! Thanks!
Ok good. I just wanted to make sure all was normal and I don't know exactly what "normal" is yet. Thank you so much for the quick response! You made me feel a whole lot better! I think I will feed baby when I milk the older doe. THANK YOU!!! :thumbsup
I just found this thread that I think answers most of my questions about the yelling lol: https://www.backyardherds.com/threads/how-long-will-it-take-new-goats-to-settle-down.20296/
But still question the butting of the baby if anyone has any thoughts
Two years of dreaming of goats and I finally have them here! I am so excited! and so nervous. I haven't been this nervous since having my first child lol!
I got 2 Nubian does. The first is a 2 yo high producer and the second is a 3 month old. They were from the same farm but not housed...

Awesome! Then I won't worry about the kelp issue. I find it interesting no one has used this brand of minerals though! :idunno
Guess we will see how it works!
I know this is an old thread but I, too, wanted to see if anyone uses Pat Coleby's mineral program. I'm sold on the concept and want to use it myself. If you use it, how do you like it? What all do you give free choice?
-sulfur (free choice?), copper (free choice or just in the grain mix?)...
I was wondering if anyone has tried New Country Organics Minerals for Goats? The copper in it seems to be amazing compared to other brands (3,000 ppm). I picked up a bag at a local farm store to try, but I can't find any reviews of it online.
One other thing, it contains kelp. I saw where...
Thank you all! I appreciate the advice. I just want to make sure I have this stuff on hand, rather than having to order it and waiting for it to come in.
Hello everyone!
I am getting my goats soon and want to stock up on some items, in particular worming medicine. I plan to treat naturally but I am open to chemical wormers when needed. The dairy I am getting my goats from uses cydectin on an as-needed basis and said they have great luck. So...
Hey ya'll!
It's been a while since I have been on here. I haven't had much goat activity in a while, so I haven't been on. But I just taste-tested goat milk for the first time (amazing and definitely a critical step if ya wanna get goats!) and got hubby's approval for the go-ahead! We just...
Or...I may just get a male and find room for him. If he is next to the females but fenced separately will he be ok by himself or does he need a whether in with him?
...and this is how you go from 2 goats to 938483849023540 goats :th
Well...worse case I know a lady close to me who raises Alpines and Nubians. I was thinking of Nubians as well...so maybe she will sell me some does and consider a studding service.
