    Dairy Goat Delay

It got delayed by two surgeries then completely cancelled when she was killed by coyotes. She got her head stuck in the fence when I was recovering and when I found her the next morning, coyotes had eaten half of her. I'm just sick over it.

What to do about stray dogs?

I hate coyotes! Two weeks ago while I was laid up after foot surgery, my only milk goat got her head stuck in the fence. When I found her the next morning, her whole back half was gone.

    Prayer Requests & Praises

I love this thread. Please pray for my wife, Cecilia. She's having heartbreak due to her daughter withholding visitation because we took my grandson to church.

    Trying to get some Goats

I have an ex who still gets my goat from time to time. :he  Show your dad some of the baby goat videos on YouTube. When he quits laughing, he'll agree. Just saw that you've done that.

My answer was on that. Thanks. Looks like my first milking adventure since moving into town in 1955 will start Monday.

    This is Retirement??

Thank you all. The Unsssigned Lands were that part of Oklahoma that was opened in the land run of 1889. I actually bought my land from the family that homesteaded it.

What to do about stray dogs?

My closest neighbor is half a mile away, and his dogs aren't a problem. What I get are poor dogs that have been dumped. If they've gone feral, there's not a real choice.

What to do about stray dogs?

The lgd's showed up at the front gate with a jack Russell/beagle mix looking for all the world like "she followed us home. Can we keep her?" We did. A couple of weeks ago, someone dumped an American Eskimo dog nearby and we kept him, too. However, three bobcats, two coyotes, and two feral dogs...

LGD / Livestock Guardian Dog Breed Page Project (Need Pictures too)

Mine are Great Pyrenes 3/4 --- Anatolian Shepherd 1/4, so not a single breed. They do know their job. I've found one dead coyote, one dead fox, and after a badger raided the hen house, I found badger parts.

Official Poll: How do you keep your HERDS cool this summer?

It was hard to pick. Like other posters, I do more than one. I have a solar well that constantly provides cool water and 26 acres of woods for shade. The shelters are much too hot right now.

    This is Retirement??

Eight years ago, I left the city for a small ranch. I'm raising Boer/Kiko crosses for meat sales and chickens for eggs. After 47 years of working a mostly sedentary job, I've retired to one that makes me get out and sweat. I love it. However, the learning curve has been rather painful. I wish...
