    Coffee anyone ?

Three days into this time change and my body is still exhausted. We have every bit of 4"-5" of snow right now, expecting another 4"-8"!:thThursday and beyond will be in the high 40's and raining, so whatever snow we get shouldn't hang around long. Then comes mud. We have wind gusts of 30-40mph...

    Coffee anyone ?

There is another snow event today. They are calling for 8"-18". That should be fun. The warning doesn't start until 1800. But it has already been snowing since 0630. I am not impressed. The radar doesn't even show snow in our area right now. It is supposedly well north of us, and the "real" snow...

    Coffee anyone ?

Did the time change mess with anyone else today, or is it just me? Went to bed early hoping it would all even out in the morning. It is 0700 and still dark outside. On the bright side, my puppy didn't wake me up at 5 because his internal clock is messed up too! I woke him up this morning...

Myrtle had a single kid. I haven't been able to get close enough to determine buckling/doeling. Myrtle is a great Mom. Baby was dried, up and nursing quickly. All is well! Based on the brief glance I got, I think it might be a buckling. Now I have to think of a name!

My suspicions were absolutely correct about Myrtle. Her ligaments were completely gone last night. She is in labor now. Praying for a good outcome today!

    Coffee anyone ?

Today is a vital coffee day here too! Expecting 4-7" of snow this afternoon into tomorrow morning. My phone showed me a picture this morning of a recap from last year's photo album, and we had about 3"-4" of snow March 9th, 2022. That's about average, so we will have snow today instead. Ewh. I...

@Mini Horses I did dose both of the girls with Ivermectin yesterday. They definitely needed it. Looking a bit pale. Will also follow up with Probiotics, and go from there.

    Trimming Very Long Hooves

Thank you all for the suggestions! I will start with the black doe, who isn't pregnant. Her feet look better than the pregnant doe, so hopefully they shape up nicely.

    Trimming Very Long Hooves

I just adopted 2 Nigerian Dwarf does this week. Their hooves haven't been trimmed in ages. One doe is pregnant, and the other recently weaned kids - about a week ago. I am going to begin trimming their hooves slowly, because I know the quick will need time to recede before I can cut them...

@Baymule I was thinking the same thing. It could be any number of things. It isn't a persistent cough, so I will keep an eye on it, and her FAMACHA.

Just received a call from my Vet office. They can't get them in until Friday, March 17th at 0930. Guess we will just sit tight and manage what comes up until then. Who knows, she may even have these kids by then. The office said to monitor her cough and temperature, and if something gets worse...

Out of the frying pan and into the fire. I went to pick up the does yesterday, and discovered that they were not exactly what I was expecting. I was a bit shocked, because this is a well known farm in the area. They have their own farmers market and everything. The pictures of the girls look...

    Coffee anyone ?

I spilled a third of my fresh, hot coffee on the dining room table. I am sure there should be recompense to the coffee gods for such a heinous abuse of responsibility. Oh well. Out to do chores!

    SustainableAg's Just Gettin' Started Journal

We had a long day yesterday. I ran around town grocery shopping and getting various things at Tractor Supply. I had to run back out to get hay at the local Agway, because my usual hay guy is having transmission problems with his truck and cannot deliver. I ran out of time to get the hay, so DH...

    Coffee anyone ?

First cup of coffee brewed. We are in the middle of a snow storm. The snow started at 1730 yesterday and put about an inch and a half down. Then it changed to sleet and freezing rain for about two hours. Our warning is until 1900 tonight. They are calling for 6-9 inches. I think there's probably...
