That's true! I will be interested to see the "personality" of this hive. Hoping for a "laid back" bunch. I got these from a better source this year, completely TF so I'm excited to see how they do.
Oh yah...my laptop is on a desk top. So I guess it's a desktoplaptop. ??
@oldhenlikesdogs I will write about the bees a bit later. Have this mother's day thing at various places keeping out today.
Just some trivia.... installed some bees in the top bar hive this afternoon. It is so wonderful to hear the buzzing of those bees all around you when you are putting them in. It's one of those things you have to experience to understand I think. Never would have even thought I'd ever have...
Unfortunately...or maybe fortunately...I'm on a computer most of my weekdays at work. Mostly graphic design so it's like playing all day so I have no complaints! But I also took office type classes when I was in High school many years ago so can type more than 60 wpm pretty consistently...
@eggbert420
It looks like you have chicken wire on yours. A raccoon can take it's hands and rip it right open whether you have them up above it or not. So just a word of caution, I'd use hardware cloth rather than the chicken wire.
I don't like touch screens either. And having to type on a cell phone almost feels absurd. :hide And I find it quite comical what comes out of my cell phone when I do voice messaging. Almost takes more time to fix it than to just type it in the first place.
Thanks!
Weather was relatively sunny and warm with a few sprinkles later in the afternoon. We began the process around 2:30 I think. Now just need to watch and see. They seem to be settling in.
Okay...so this forum (meaning backyardherds) is pretty dead it seems. Most of the threads seem old and not a lot of new going on except in the chicken world. I'm sure we've overwhelmed the system.
I just started a thread in the bee area with no action.
Hello, bee people!
I'm going to be installing a package today and everything I read says to do it late afternoon or early evening. We have to do it today, but also will be gone later in the afternoon.
Does anyone with experience think there be any problem installing around 3:00? Northern...
Whoa! It worked. Just for that, you get a photo of some of my chickens working in the garden yesterday. I rigged up that tarp for hawk cover (in addition to my $5 dog house and a foot stool or 2).
@oldhenlikesdogs
Okay, now it's working. I think all of us BYC people posting are overwhelming this forum. It keeps doing strange things...like posting my last post 3 times while sitting in limbo for several minutes.
