    Dying Hen

I'm still a newbie but if the separation has gotten her to start eating and she can see the chicks are safe I'd stick with it. If she's eating oatmeal maybe mixing in some of the nutritious chick feed with give her a more rounded diet. My broody was only eating chick feed after they hatched and...

Dogs are so wonderful, probably the most loyal companions ever. They'll work their hearts out for you or just be there for you whenever you need them to be. It's always so hard when we lose them, they're so much like kids. Frazzemrat: Sometimes their teeth don't always keep their tongues in...

They can be. The two in front are half siblings, 3 years apart. We got Abby (the dark gray one) then adopted Gunner ( light gray) a year later, he just needed a new home. The black one is Apollo, my son and his wife's puppy. They vary in price around here from about $400 on up. They are great...

BYC Members Appreciation Thread To BYH Members

:yuckyuck I found this about herds: "a large group of animals, especially hoofed mammals, that live, feed, or migrate together or are kept together as livestock. synonyms: drove, flock, pack, fold " See, chickens are kinda like a herd, so there's no need to hide under a chair! ;)

They're great pics! Thx. Showed my wife the others you posted and her jaw dropped, "Is that what ours will look like?" she asked. I said there's a good chance and she was tickled. Lol

    Broody hen thread

We had 3 out of the 4 hatch yesterday. Looks like one of them started but it looks like mama may have squished it before it got out. The egg was slightly flattened with bits of shell missing but the membrane was unbroken. :( The good news is the others look happy and healthy all tucked in under...

I have several BOs and a Gold Laced Orp. Papa is a Blu Orp. All the eggs are a mix of the Buffs and Gold Laced with Papa Blue. I'm really curious to see what they look like when they grow out.

    Broody hen thread

Just joined today since BYC is updating... We had a hen go broody about a month ago and decided to let her hatch chicks mother nature's way. We set 12 eggs under her, lost a few to crushing when another went broody and started crowding her in the nest but she hatched the remaining 8 and the...
