Contruction weekend commenced. All studs cut and ready to be framed in. Going to be cold but that is New England. I am so excited to get our little ladies!
Think we settled on an 8 by 12 mini barn/shed. With a loft up in the gambrel roof. Going to put plywood sheathing on roof first. Deciding on metal or shingle roof, and vents, windows, etc now
I saw information on metal roofs just put on studs cause condensation.
I am like wow, no matter how...
Thanks. I am really trying to research as much as I can. I can store in a section in barn, some outdoors, and we are building a loft portion. But no clue what we are doing. First livestock animals, except chickens, for me. Have a vet tech background, so that whole area seems easier to absorb.
Any general guide lines for storing hay. Like only so many high. So many inches apart. Etc. Is outside generally better. Like a hoop frame for rain cover but open for air?
Building barn/shed for 2 mini goats next weekend. Cannot seem to make my mind up on the set up. Keep bumping back and forth between one idea and other. I have the fencing under control. But just really can not decide on housing. There is a multitude of info out there but everyone seems to live...
We are getting two mini's end of March. We are building a gambrel roofed shed w loft so we can store hay. We have not settled on the size yet. We looked at a 10 by 12 w a loft approx 1/3 the floor space of the shed. We thought we would make the loft larger, maybe L shaped for more storage...
I hear your rant on the sites. A lot of people near me have very outdated sites. Or no site. Some are on facebook but it makes looking up information on the goats they are selling nearly impossible. And to add to the difficulty they refer you to the site. . .:he:caf
Know anybody good near me up in New England. Everybody I like the look of (breeder not goats, the goats are all darn adorable) is 600-800miles away. Might be going for a long trip to start my foundation herd. Oh yeah I got the goat bug bad.
That is great! I hope to find someone to teach me that near me in NH. I reached out to two local breeders and vets and have not heard a word back. I know it is a crazy time of year. Holidays, and kidding etc. Just so darn excited. Good time of year to get your fix w cute pics and videos though
I want all the recipes you have for cheese. So far with all the reading I am partial to the LaMancha and Obers, though the hubs and kids want NDs. I like the minis but I do not see many who sell near here. Also they dont seem to offer any kind of stud service. So I would need to start bigger...
Newbie here, from Brookline NH. Been lurking a while reading everything I can gobble up. Been researching this for a year. Everything I started with said read, read, read. I waited to purchase until I was sure. Hubs and I are looking at La Manchas and alot of the family is hinting they want NDs...
