Okay. I see what you're saying. I milk twice, so I should still give the bottle at night for now. Thanks so much.

Help with week old nigie recently recovered from hypothermia

Ugh ... will it be okay for him to be penned by himself? Should i give him a bottle? It seems a long time to go without eating if I seperate him at five. I dont get down there until about 8-8:30 am.

Help with week old nigie recently recovered from hypothermia

Thank you for your reply. So, I should milk her even if he is nursing fulltime? Will she make enough for me and him? I was thinking of locking them both up overnight in the kidding stall. I have a cat carrier that I can put in there too.

Help with week old nigie recently recovered from hypothermia

Lollipop gave birth in the birthing pen a little after midnight on 3/1 to 2 bucklings. It was unusually cold (low 20's) and windy. I made sure they were dried off completely and nursing. I stayed for awhile and satisfied they were bonded and nursing well, went back to the house. The next morning...

Transitioning to once a day milking

Haha ... skip back to 9 weeks ago, you would have found me sitting behind the barn crying, questioning my existance, and thinking of selling all of them. Lol

Transitioning to once a day milking

Thank you both! I have decided to keep pushing through with twice a day for a few more weeks at least. I appreciate that when I do make the transition, its pretty simple and straightforward. This is my first doe, her first birth and my first time milking. Its been quite the experience. Lol I...

Transitioning to once a day milking

I want to transition my ff ND to milking once a day only in the evenings. Is that even possible? If so, how do I begin the process? She gave birth June 1st. Her kids were bottle fed and are completely weaned. Right now she gives about 2 1/2 cups in the morning and a little over 2 cups at night.

Wow! It’s that much? I don’t have $100s to spend on an epi pen either. How do you give the Benadryl?

She was between 40 and 50lbs and the vet recommended opening 20 capsules in 30ml of water. The second time, with my wether, I only had 10 capsules left, so I gave that in 15ml of water, but it did the trick bc he was eating and drinking within about 20 minutes and by the next day was doing his...

What you didn't know -Share to help others

Hi all, I’m so new to goats I hesitate to offer any advice, but in my very short time as a goat owner I have had 2 emergencies and both were saved by activated charcoal. The first incident was when I went to the goat yard and saw my Nigerian Dwarf doe looking like Cujo. Her hair was standing up...

Why does my Nigerian Dwarf goat faint?

I didn’t take it that way. I’m just trying to give as much info as possible. I have a vet and have had fecals done about a month and a half ago. She had diarrhea and tested pos for cocci. Did you get a chance to scroll up and read the post that I quoted you and answered you within the quote? I...

Why does my Nigerian Dwarf goat faint?

She will be registered through the AGDA. I I’m definitely going to contact the breeder. I just want to get my thoughts a little more organized before I do so. I mistakenly answered your previous questions within your quote. I hope it’s not too convoluted to figure out. I answered in bold, but it...

Why does my Nigerian Dwarf goat faint?

Wow, I’m learning a lot. I had no idea there were long haired nigies! My chickens and goats get along great, although it’s been hell keeping the goats out of the chicken coop. No matter how small we make the door, it’s not small enough! They have magic powers to make their bones collapse or...
