My nubian is not processing her food well, if at all. This has been going on for about 2 weeks. She eats all the time, but is rapidly losing weight. She is off balance and acts like she can't see out of one eye. I've taken her off grain, she is only getting some alfalfa pellets while she is...
That's a good idea about soaking. I might try that. I'll have to wait until the next mix. (Next week) as I already mixed everything together.
I'll check on crimped corn as well. I've never heard of that.
I mix oats and corn w/ Purina Goat Chow, then feed alfalfa pellets at night when we lock them up. I used to feed PGC exclusively, but it got way too expensive. DH was going to make me sell a couple of goats unless I was able to find something else to feed. I don't know where I'd get barley...
I want to apologize for "wole". I meant whole, as most of you know. ;) I don't know how to go back in and fix it.
Now, back to topic. I would love to feed my goats non-GMO feed, but I live in the heart of Monsantoland. People around here look at me funny if I mention GMO. IF I could get...
I was getting cracked corn from the elevator. They're not going to carry it anymore, so my local feed store (caters to beef producers) ordered it in. I bought a bag and mixed it w/ my goat feed. I couldn't believe how dusty it was. It was much worse the the corn at the elevator. My goats...
I guess I wasn't very clear. Will the essential oils be a problem for them? e.g. Tea tree oil is toxic to cats. Is the eucalyptus or lemon grass oil a problem?
I was wondering if I could use essential oils for fly and mosquito control on my goats. I've heard of lemongrass and eucalyptus oil or lemon eucalyptus oil. I milk for human consumption, so I don't want to use any poisons or chemicals. Does anybody have any ideas. My girls are getting eaten...
I make a lot of mozzerella. Some for cheese sticks and some for pizza etc. Freezes very well. My family is always sad when the cheese is gone in the winter time. I only milk from feshening to breeding. I need the winter off. Chores are short and sweet in the winter. :D
Thank you all for your kind words.
Prairiechick, I feed regular grass hay, same as my goats. The rabbits seem to be doing well with that. I don't know where I'd get timothy except for the expensive pkg from a pet store. As far as eating and drinking go, I'm not sure if she was off or not...
