Young Goat with Horn/Head Injury.....Need Advice

I realized I never updated. She never got an infection, thankfully. It ended up being broken at the tip. It has now grown out and she is doing great. Looks a little lopsided though :D =D

Young Goat with Horn/Head Injury.....Need Advice

Is there a particular antibiotic that I should use for this kind of injury? I was going to run over to Tractor Supply to get something, but didn't know which would be more effective. I've never bought an antibiotic (haven't had a need yet), so I want to make sure I get the right thing. If it...

Young Goat with Horn/Head Injury.....Need Advice

I didn't get her temp checked this morning, but her body temperature felt much cooler than last night. I will definitely check it when I get home from work, so long as I can catch her (these things always seem to happen on a weekday:he) She is definitely more active this morning. Her head is...

Young Goat with Horn/Head Injury.....Need Advice

Okay, I hope it heals up and she doesn't get it bumped. She sounds so sad when she tries to scratch her head and cries out. Other than keeping flies off and adding Goldenseal (to keep infection away), should I be doing anything else besides watching for a potential abscess or her horn...

Young Goat with Horn/Head Injury.....Need Advice

I have a young doe (born April) with a bloody left horn. I can't tell if she broke it, or cut her head. She is very sensitive about it being touched, but she did let me try wiggling it. It does move slightly, but not floppy. I am assuming it is because she has baby horns and they are still...

Baby goat seems double jointed....need advice

Not the best pictures (low light and active babies) but here's what his legs currently are like. So much better! My sister named him Mr Wobble. It just stuck even if he isn't wobbly anymore.:D =D

Baby goat seems double jointed....need advice

I checked it this morning and the spots look like they are scabbed over. So far so good. He is doing so much better! He is getting stronger and he is standing and nursing by himself. His brother is happy because he finally has someone to play with (apparently I am boring :D =D) Thank you...

Baby goat seems double jointed....need advice

I just came in from checking on him, and the inside of both of his hind legs look like this right at the joint. Could it be from them bending the wrong way and it's causing rub marks?

That is interesting. I hope his will. It's only been under 48 hours, but I keep hoping to go out and find them correctly positioned.

Baby goat seems double jointed....need advice

Okay, thank you! This a first time having babies, and I wanted to make sure I was doing everything necessary before considering going to a vet. He is such a sweet baby and he is very alert. He does try to get up on his own and when he fails, he makes little grunts of frustration. His...

Baby goat seems double jointed....need advice

Hello, I bought goats June 2021 and I have had my first batch of kids born yesterday! This isn't the mommy's first time, but it was mine. Unfortunately, I was on a plane heading home when I found out. Now, my sister and brother took care of everything and they called a friend of mine to come...

    Can goats get laryngitis????

Thank you so much for all the responses! I went ahead and got the 500 mg chewable and am giving it morning and evening. I will say, she is not a big fan.... She's not squeaking as much and actually has a sound coming out. I did dose her and her mom with ivermectin just to make sure she...

    Can goats get laryngitis????

Is there a specific brand of vitamin c that is better or that I need to avoid? For the thermometer, this is probably a sill question, but would I use it under the tongue?

    Can goats get laryngitis????

This is what the discharge looks like this morning. Still had a great appetite but just made a squeak sound instead of her loud call.
