Awww....He is adorable! Congratulations on your new goats!
Like others have said, fencing is super important with Nigerian Dwarfs. They are very clever and have lots of ways to get out. Our 3-4 month old Nigerian mix whether could jump our 3 ft fence.....so we expanded it to a 4 ft fence...and...
Today there was a little more mucous however, it was a small amount of white mucous. This is another sign of heat, right? Normally, I would just assume she was in heat however, I still can’t explain the clear liquid I squeezed from her teats. Any ideas? She clearly does not have an udder. Here...
I had a similar problem with my doe this year in the Spring. I thought it might be lice despite the fact I didn’t see any bugs. I spread lime and diatomaceous earth throughout her shed, and coated her with the diatomaceous earth. It was not lice. When it started to get warmer, I shaved her to...
Well, I was wrong. For the longest time, my doe convinced me she was not pregnant. She did not look much bigger. Her udder was not really developing. I thought she might have gone through a heat cycle or two however, she is one of those does that have very subtle heat cycles. Turns out, she is...
So sorry for your losses. I’m sure we all know how heartbreaking it is. Goats tend to pretend to be heathy even when they are sick. Then, the suddenly drop dead. Don’t give up on goats though. They are the sweetest animals that will love you and scream for you to come out and scratch them right...
Not seeing any signs of Gracie being pregnant. :(
We have never really been able to tell when her heat cycles are. We will try to breed her again in the fall. Hoping for babies in the Spring of 2020!
Hi!
She was hand bred as she was on the lead and the buck was loose. We had to buck jump on her 3-4 times to make sure it would work. We saw white goo coming out of her about 2-3 hours later.
She is always screaming but hasn’t really shown signs of being back in heat. Not sure if I’m just...
Hi!
Thank you! I suspected that 25lbs was a little small but wasn’t sure. She was 35lbs but apparently she didn’t breed. I’ll weigh her again soon and find out if I should breed her or not after show season. Thank you so much for your help!
Hi!
Thank you for the advice! I will definitely show her this year! I honestly had do idea to breed them when they are 45+lbs! Someone online said that they are safe to breed at 25lbs. Is this true? Thank you!
Yes I do! She has already been shown at multiple shows around NJ as a junior doe, and hopefully we will be able to continue showing her this year! Before we bred her, she weighed about 35lbs. Honestly, I have no idea how much she weighs now but I would guess about 35-38lbs. She is about normal...
Hi!
Last year in March, I bought a Nigerian Dwarf doe kid from a great Nigerian Dwarf breeder who shows her goats at the ADGA. We bred her in February when she was 11 months old and now it is June and we have no idea if she is pregnant! Her due date is July 3rd however, her udder has not formed...
Hi,
I bred my doe Gracie on February 8th this year. I’m not 100% convinced that she is pregnant. I was considering drawing blood however, I am not confident in doing so and am afriad I will hit an arterie.
Are there alternative ways to tell if a goat is pregnant? How do you tell?
Thanks in advance!
