I didn’t get a picture of the Egyptian bird. It’s definitely a Fayoumi though she’s a spitting image of hens online. I thought she was a rooster because her tail feathers stand straight up. Then I googled it and she’s definitely a hen. She is very skiddish so she wasn’t down with the other...

Chickens are great! So far my favorite to watch and just hangout with. I love breeding rabbits but they aren’t near as entertaining as chickens. I would HIGHLY recommend everyone that can have chickens should get chickens.

So as far as which roosters to keep, what would you suggest? The Dominique are definitely going in the freezer they are buttheads to all the other birds. We have 19-20 hens so I was thinking of keeping 2 or 3. The Steele egger is a designer hybrid with a Afro rockstar hair do. They are tiny...

    Goat advice

It was a little bit stricter on the wolves when they first were introduced. Now you can buy wolf tags over the counter in most counties. And a rancher can take them if they are attacking livestock. He still has to call fish and game after the fact but the population of wolves has exploded...

    Goat advice

I don’t where you live but here in Montana it’s legal to shoot to kill any animal going after live stock or pets. That includes neighbors dogs. Which is probably why we don’t have a stray dog problem and people keep their dogs fenced or contained pretty darn well. Coyotes, mountain lions,eagles...

MtViking- A little piece of paradise.

Quick update. Chickens are getting big. And starting to crow!! We have at least 6 roosters that we need to figure out what to do with. They don’t seem very meaty so I don’t know if I need to wait a while before freezer camp or if being laying breeds if it’s even worth eating them. I’m thinking...

Advice and opinions on what to get next.

My Mother in law told me the local ag store sells that bait so I’m gonna check it out. She’s had great luck with it over the years. She did say we need to use it early on to really get the effects. Her garden got destroyed by them too.
