We have 3 milkers in one shed. We close them in at night for predator safety but in the daytime the shed door is open to a pen. Even when the day is nice they are always in the shed! It gets so dirty so fast since where they stand they pee. Why are they in their house even when it's nice out...
So one of my does was due towards the beginning of July. Her udder started to grow a small bit a few months ago, but then never filled all the way. Turns out she wasn't pregnant. Her due date is well passed now and she never got round.
No big deal, we'll breed her in the fall. Weird thing though...
My friend's Nubian doe went into labor early. She has been huge and already bagged up well ahead. This is her second time, but they bought her just after freshening, without her kids last year. She has a horrible shaped udder but was easy to milk, so they bred her.
So she was laying down...

So I bought some less expensive hay that has a good bit of foxtail in it, mixed with grass/alfalfa...I figured they eat all of our weeds covered in prickly things, so foxtails should be ok. Well apparently not! They eat the hay fine, except yesterday while trimming feet I noticed one of my does...
