Will wood chips work in place of hay for a kindling nest for kits etc?

Don’t know about wood chips but along with hay and straw that is readily available to my rabbits, I keep the dog hair when I brush my big dogs and I add big clumps of dog hair when the rabbits start to make a nest

    Feeding rabbits entirely for free?

I currently have 2 dozen rabbits free ranging in a 5000 square feet enclosure. These are Flemish Giants to feed my dogs. They have 24/7 access to grass and young brush shoots and I feed them pellets twice a day as well as whatever is available from our garden. Pellets have supplements that...

To Buy or Not to Buy - A Livestock Guardian Dog

I may be the odd man out as they say, but I adopted a 6 month old Maremma that was living chained under a backyard deck in the suburbs. She had never been in contact with any livestock and got her for a couple hundred bucks about 18 months ago. At first I only had rabbits and had just started...

Please Help, beginner meat rabbit breeder Here!

i agree, they look like Holland Lop... but just a caution: as you bought them at auction you have no history or anything so chances are they might be related and I don’t recommend breeding them together. I would sell the buck and get a new one to breed your girls, that’s the only way to make...

    Outdoor Cat Safety

I lost a very talented mouser this winter. She went missing one night, it’s sad but not much can be done. Found just a tiny bit of blood but nothing else. Figured a coyote got her even though she had survived a few bad scrapes in the past. Now, as best I can, I try to make sure to lock them in...

Mini pig attacking new young goat

Hey thanks again for the valid suggestions, works like a charm. Didn’t take long for them to lay together on either side of some snow fence and now they’re fine laying in some shade together. I wouldn’t say best buds yet but I find them close to one another lots and they are good for the night too👍

Mini pig attacking new young goat

Thanks Duckfarmer, it gives me hope. I don’t have chickens, just a rooster with the ducks and like I said before no issues there, the pig never bothers them now that feeding time is sorted out. But you’re right about a temporary fence so they can get to know each other without risk of total...

Mini pig attacking new young goat

Hello everyone, So I'm new here and fairly new to looking after farm animals. Started out small with rabbits, then added some ducks, so far so good... Then I adopted a mini pig (vietnamese potbelly) that was a house pet and set up a space for her out with the others (loves the straw and rooting...
