    Pricing a horse for sale

Missouri..... so Midwest pricing. Would also be good to know how tall she is, how many hands high? If she's around 15 hh, like most OTT thoroughbreds, you'd probably be marketing to youth customers . I'm thinking in the $3K range. Do you have Pony Club in that area? There are also a number...

Which breed is right for me?

I agree with getting an older horse. I learned that the hard way many years ago. You may even want to consider a rescue. There are plenty of rescue foundations around, just google in your area. The Humane Society gets horses, and websites like, Rescueme.org lists horses in different states...

    Goat scour dosage

I posted last week about a couple of my ND boys with terrible scours that kept recurring. Barber pole worms, I had been giving Quest. Finally stopped by my small animal vet, who occasionally will work on goats. He said--NO QUEST! Then gave me some cydectin to use instead. That was Tue. Came home...

    Barber pole worms

I have a billy and his son, a wether, that continue to have diarrhea . They are in 2 separate pens. Two different lab tests have confirmed barber pole/screw worms. I have wormed them with Quest a couple times now. They clear up for about a month, then runny again. Any other ideas? thanks

    Fencing for ponies?

We have 3 good sized pens for our Nigerian Dwarfs. One also has two miniature donkeys in with them. They get along fine. That shelter has one big stall (probably 12x12), then a little breezeway connected to a small feed room. The stall has a long shelf for the goats to jump up on. In nasty...

    Goat Diarreah

More questions: Stool sample today showed barber pole worms and stomach worms on the little wether, so I'm assuming the same for his daddy. Even though I wormed everybody with Ivermectin paste a few days ago, I think I'm going to go ahead and give those two moxidectin/Quest. 1 CC per 100...

    Goat Diarreah

Wormed everybody today with Ivermectin paste. One of the little wethers developed the runs too, even though he's been over with the girls now for a month. We have 3 large pens/mini-pastures. One group is does, with a couple of mini-donkeys. The second one is the Boy's Club, which includes the...

    Goat Diarreah

Hello all, We've been having a problem with our 3 year old Nigerian Dwarf buck for awhile now. He gets diarrhea regularly. The lab test came back with barber pole worms. I've wormed him with Fenbendazole /Safe-guard several times now, including the follow up dose, but it keeps coming back...

    DIY Field Shelters/Run-Ins

I should have said, I put on waterproof, breathable sheets when its raining below 50. Heavy blankets are below 30. And when its going to be teens at night, I put both on my big guys (Warmbloods) if its edging toward zero. I don't want horses with wet backs, regardless. Have your horses ever...

    DIY Field Shelters/Run-Ins

We have a 4 horse cedar sided barn, with a feed room. The stalls are 12 x 12'. I can say from experience, you never know when you are going to need to close a horse in. Ours come in for meals, and I close their doors so there is no bullying. I have also been leaving them in at night lately...

    Goats with collars?

We just use cheap dog collars, and hang little brass cowbells off them. Love the music! Just leave them on all the time.

You're talking about an older horse then. Try rescues, like rescueme.org They have animals in every state posted, including horses.

    Botulism

How many of you vaccinate your goats for botulism B, along with regular CD&T? I've been doing it the past several years since we had a couple of baby donkeys, and one goat, die from it. The donkeys had been vaccinated for the B strain, which is also what I give my horses. The doe only had...

I have a Nigerian buck that needs more help. He, and one doe, were pale. diarrhea, and losing weight, I was treating with Red Cell. Spectogard, and vite B shots, Lab tested high for bankrupt worms. So, I wormed with Quest, and then 3 straight days of Safeguard. The doe has cleared up, just...

    Injection injury

I was doing a round of CD&T's a few days ago to young ones (Nigerians), and apparently hit the sciatic nerve on one of my little girls. I feel terrible because she's been really limping. I've just always given them IM, and never had a problem. Will definitely be switching to SubQ. Is there...
