    Pigs in the yard...

Our American Guinea Hogs go to the butcher in 6 days. But they now have decided they don't care about the electric fence anymore. 8K volts and they run right through it, after 7 months of it working perfectly. So, instead of chasing them 5 times a day, we decided that our backyard is their...

    Name that poo

Found a few piles of this stuff in our back field. Any guesses on the animal? That is my son's croc in one shot for size comparison. (it is not out of the question that our pigs got out and wandered back there, but it doesn't look like their normal poo)

    Recuperating Old Pasture (new project)

    AGHs not eating grass

So my 4 AGHs are young (18 weeks)... They are training to electric netting and we rotate them about once per week. Oddly, when we first got them (8 weeks) they went straight for the grass (Fescue mostly) tufts and nibbled them right down. But now, I think they have discovered how awesome clover...

New to herd, but not flocks

Been on backyard chickens for a while now. We are now going to Branch out into pigs and cattle and maybe rabbits so I figured I should join here. We have made connections with a registered AGH breeder as well as a zebu breeder in our area. So now we are starting to learn as much as we can...

    Pigs & Sweetgum (gumballs)

We are clearing some space for new pigs to have pasture. It was mostly young pine (less than 4") that a previous owner let overthrow... but there is some Sweetgum mixed in. We would like to leave a few tall trees for shade. Will/Should the pigs eat the gumballs that fall? I've read that goats...
