Need Easy/inexpensive Run-in for donkey ideas.

My donkey is older and definitely is not as comfortable in the rain or cold as my cattle. A hoop shelter would work fine. I tend to use whatever I have laying around not being used. Cedar posts, couple old sheets of tin roof and I'm in business. 😀

Dexter processing, when is too late?

Good point. I just dropped some pigs off to the processor and I know they are always booked very far out. Cows are looking good. Older one is still a little thinner than the younger heifer. Bellies are getting a bit bigger in both it seems. This pic is about a month ago. I'll have to take...

Dexter processing, when is too late?

All great feedback. Thank you. I'm a fan of Pete on YouTube channel Just a few acres. We've been focused on getting through this tough winter but all the animals are doing well. The latest they should calve is april so only a few more months until we either have calves or I figure out plan b.

    Electric Mowers

I have an electric push mower. I bought it barely used for $100. Kobalt model. Works great but that particular model I bought is known for having issues with the battery charger.

I cut a plastic 55 gallon drum in half long way and built a frame for it out of free pallet wood. Works great.

Meat quality in older pot bellied pigs?

I met a family that is in desparate need to rehome 3 pot bellied pigs for free. Ages between 3-6 yrs of age. One gilt. One barrow. One boar. I understand that this breed is more fatty. Otherwise, any issues or feedback with consuming pot bellies of this age?

Dexter processing, when is too late?

Thanks for the great information friends. They just arrived 3 days ago and are doing great. I even got a Jenny as the part of the deal just so she wouldn't be alone. There is a possibility that these two are bred. Previous owner was not 100% sure but they were both running with a bull for the...

Dexter processing, when is too late?

I've got 2 dexters, 3 yr heifer and 6yr cow. I understand it's best to process around 24-28months. Since we're past the prime, I'm looking for info to help me in case they aren't bred and need to head to the butcher. Will the meat be different? Tough cuts forcing us to consider all...

    Pig fence recommendations

Thanks for sharing. What size gates are you using? Yeah, the fermenting won't work for my situation since I'm not on the farm daily.

    Pig fence recommendations

So I'm leaning towards woven wire exterior fencing and using electric to section off pastures. I like the design towards the bottom of this article. https://cefs.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/designing-pasture-subdivisions-for-practical-management-of-hogs-2015.pdf?x47549 What are you all...
