2024 SageHill Lambing (the newbie joins in)

Starting up My own lambing thread. I was hoping that I’d start the new year with a new lamb on the first. Instead I took care of a ewe who thought prolapse would be a good learning experience for me. Sigh. I’d ordered the prolapse harnesses (2 is always better than one) last week and of course...

    Tilt Chute

The thought of tipping my almost 200# ram into the sheep deck chair was a bit daunting. He's not a bad ram, but he is a ram and bigger than me. I tipped the ewes and the wether last time around and it was ok. I really didn't want to tip the ram. I don't know how I found out about the tilt and...

    First Aid Kit

Probably one of the most important things to have I can think of is a well stocked first aid kit. Accidents happen - some simple and some not so simple -- it's the "What do I do now?" scenario. I know we've all got favorites - but there are holes in probably most of our "kits". The last minute...

    Mineral Block ??

I always have a mineral block -Producer's Pride General Purpose Mineral Block from TSC labeled for cows, goats, and sheep. No cpooer in it. My question is can the sheep OD on it?? I swear they like to pound it down like candy. I'm wondering if I should rotate that with just a plain salt block.

    SageHill Ranch Journal

First - I wish I'd found this group years ago - I'm loving reading everyone's journals and learning a lot as I do. You all rock and thank you for sharing! It's HOT here in So Cal - and I've been staying cool inside reading, and decided - what the heck jump into the journal pool under the AC vent...
