thin spots on angora rabbit's back

I've had my English angora for about 2 years. I've always brushed her weekly like the breeder told me to. I've noticed that on her back the fur is much thinner than on the rest of her body. You can see it from a distance, that's how much of a difference there is. Anyone have any experience...

Swollen genital area in female rabbit

Hi, I have a two-year-old angora rabbit. I've noticed that near her vent (is that what you call it?) she has something that looks like a swollen bubble. Also, how do you clean a rabbit's bottom? I usually cut off the dirty fur, but I'm afraid to cut too close, so there are some areas of her...

    Single doe building a nest?

Well, that's an interesting tidbit of information. I didn't know that. Thanks! :)

    Single doe building a nest?

This forum has been very helpful for my puzzling rabbit questions. Here is another thing I can't figure out. My lone rabbit (English Angora doe, almost a year old, unspayed and not bred) seems to have built a nest. She has a two-level hutch in my fenced backyard. There are two litter...

    Dig, dig, dig

She hasn't been bred or spayed.

Should I give my angora a summer haircut?

I definitely can't see the skin. In fact, it's been a few days and I can't really tell where it's been cut!

    Dig, dig, dig

I like to give my pet angora rabbit some run around time in the fenced backyard when the weather permits. Sometimes she grazes on the grass, weeds and clover, but most of the time she just digs. There are a few places where she's been digging where I haven't stopped her much because she can't...

Should I give my angora a summer haircut?

Thanks! I took your advice and gave her a haircut. It's amateurish, and although there was a big pile of fur when I finished, she still has a lot of hair. I hope she feels cooler with it.

Should I give my angora a summer haircut?

We already got up to 90 degrees fahrenheit here yesterday and I'm debating whether or not I should trim her hair shorter. I keep her for a pet, not wool production, so I don't need to use the wool (although I save clean wool that I brush out.) Her hutch is in the spot of the yard that gets the...

There are bees all over the rabbit hutches!

Could they possibly be paper wasps? They like to build their nests in wooden corners. We also have problems with them nesting in the eaves of our home.

    Stuff in angora wool

Thanks! I let her run around in the yard now that it's spring. Not all of the time, but usually for a little while each day while I'm out there. Of course, she picks up everything like a dustmop. So are there special brushes for carding? Sorry for my ignorance, I just don't know anything...

    Stuff in angora wool

Hi All, I've been saving wool from my angora rabbit for the last few months. Since she's like a litte dustmop, it's impossible for the wool not to have bits of hay and grass in it, although I try to take as much out as I can. Can the wool still be used by someone for spinning or felting even...

    Stinky rabbit=nice rabbit

My English Angora doe seems to have these mood swings. She's on antibiotics, so I have to take her out of her hutch 3 times a day. She just went through a cycle of a couple of weeks where she would make a squeaky wheezing grunting sound every time I came near the hutch and bite and box at me...

    Medicating a rabbit

I've been using the same bale of hay since I got her. It's stored in big tupperware type containers. With one animal, it lasts a long time. I've had her since September 2010. I think it is an educated guessing game. If the anitbiotics don't work, then I think it will be time for lab tests.

what to do with english angora wool

Well, I will definitely start saving it then. I didn't realize it could be felted as well. Does it need to be washed before it's turned into felt or yarn? What is a good container to store the wool in as it's brushed out? Do I need a cloth bag, or can it just be stuffed in a plastic grocery...

    Medicating a rabbit

Actually, she is on Baytril. I hope it works this time! I ddin't think to look for the gap in the teeth- I'll have to try that. Thanks for the advice. :)

    Spring cleaning the hutch

Now that spring is here, I'm planning on moving the rabbit hutch from our unheated porch to our fenced in back yard, where it was in the fall. I'd really like to give the hutch a thorough cleaning when it's outside and I can get it wet and have it dry in the sun. What can I use to clean the...

    Medicating a rabbit

Unfortunately, my English angora has a recurring case of the "sniffles". This is her third round of antibiotics, and this time I have to medicate her for a whole month. She is OK about taking her eyedrops, but she hates taking the oral antibiotics. She seems to be more stubborn this time...

what to do with english angora wool

OK, I know it can be spun into yarn. But where do you find someone who can do that? I have no idea what the process is. Every week I brush my English angora, and have a pile of nice, soft white fur. I've been throwing it away, but I know it would make nice yarn because that's what they're...

Are Netherland Dwarf Rabbits natually mean???

Don't you get a mouth full of fur? :) That's the only reason I don't kiss my angora bunny. We do rub noses sometimes, though. :)
