When can one sex kits with 100% accuracy?

I haven't had surprises, but I do handle them daily and sex them daily (for my own curiousity) every day. I don't trust my sexing at 10 days, so I keep checking and checking, lol. I give gender-neutral names mostly, just in case, lol. It's not unusual. Some people call it the "sex-change...

This is bothering me. I ordered a piece of clothing. The next day, the banner ad on SS/BYH was for the same website and same piece of clothing. I logged into my shopping account on a wholesaler's website. The next day I see a banner for their catalog on SS/BYH. Yesterday I was shopping...

    Treats that are okay?

.... because dry bread stays dry in the degestive system? It doesn't make sense. Dry bread will become wet inside the rabbit. Grains in general do not digest well, but free choice hay and water - and moderation in the treats will prevent problems.

    A few more questions

Raw bones are not a problem for dogs. :) It's the COOKED bones that are dangerous! My neighbor's kid watched me butcher, lol. It's a story I won't bore y'all with. Keeping the neighbors happy is important. I won't butcher outside because so many neighbors can see our yard.

    A few more questions

Urine guards start to get expensive! I had a really, really messy buck and that cage has 8" of urine guard. Does will scootch their butts into a corner to pee and it gets all over, so I have urine guards on some doe cages too. My cages are set back 18 - 24" from the shed wall and window. The...

Doe is late to deliver - need help with her behavior

Palpate her. It should be VERY obvious if there are full-term babies in there. If she's pregnant, leave her alone with a nest box. If not, leave her alone for a couple days to let her calm down and re-breed.

    Treats that are okay?

Be careful with feeding grain (bread, biscuit) if you are not feeding hay. Alfalfa hay is fine, assuming you have reproducing, or meat rabbits. My rabbits love APPLES - they each get one-a-day when I get windfalls. I feed kitchen scraps except orange peals and onion. I feed garden leftovers...

    Medicating a rabbit

Can't help you on the cost, my fiance owns a vet clinic. :love Most rabbit people will kill a rabbit with snuffles. With a 3ml syringe, lift her lip and slide it in the gap between her front and back teeth. Diagonally - pointed towards her throat. You can hold her mouth closed (hold her...

what to do with english angora wool

There isn't much of a market for raw angora wool. However, there is huge demand for 2ply handpainted angora yarn. Even 1-ply sells fairly well.

    Miscarry - Rebreeding? UPDATE: Surprise!

O.M.G. I am such an IDIOT! :somad It never crossed my mind that he might have already rebred her before I found her! I rebred her March 7 - 12. I checked my breeding calendar today, right before I went out to the rabbits, nobody due until 4/2. She had babies TODAY! Of course on the wire...

Grooming French Angora rabbits, and other hair-related questions

I don't waste any energy with junior coats. Thay're cottony (like cotton candy), matt up with any moisture or hay. They barely produce any wool, and it is sub-prime so what is the point? I cut the coat of when it begins to get surface mats or molt. I usually do 3 baby clips before letting...

    REW x REW litter question

REW masks all color genes, it is not a replacement for the color genes, both parents have color genes hidden and you can figure that out by the pedigree. Draw up a simplee punnet square. In with REW being recessive, both parents REW can only produce REW. The only way I can think of is an...

need help curbing some bad habbits

I second that! I changed my sweetest, most affectinate rabbit into an aggressive one by accident. Whoops! Thankfully I understand animal behavior and behavior modification, so she's coming around. Still suspicious in that situation, but relaxing.

    Free Rang Rabbits?

lol, that was my day. I put my rabbits out in groups in good weather. I tested my does. They are all rather young. Funny that the most people-affectionate one was being b*tchy. And the very un-affectionate rabbits was all sweet and kissy-face with the others.

What kind of Hay do you give your rabbit?

Any hay is OK. Alfalfa hay is higher protein, but it's not a huge difference. As long as rabbit's urine doesn't have sediment (looks like mustard) then there's no problem.

    Free Rang Rabbits?

You can, and you won't be the first. However, they will probably become skittish and lose affectionate personalities.
