Anyone tan hides or lucky rabbit feet, I have been searching the Internet to try to get an idea of how much to sell them for with no luck. I live in Michigan if that makes a difference.
I raise both Dutch and meat rabbits and one baby of each had jumped out of the nest box when I got home tonight. I hope video is ok, he/she scratches its head in this first video and its adorable...
Same thing happend to me this year as well, also a first time mom. And I also was baffeled that all but one got out of the pen, I have the very very tiny wire on bottom that's made for keeping baby's in if they hop out of the nest box. My does had them over a week after she was due and never...
For me hay is free, my parents have 30 acres and a large chunk of that they grow alphalpha on plus another 10 acres that they let the farmer use as payment for cutting and bailing on the 30 acres. I have always fed hay as a treat, is it safe and healthy to cut pellets out completely? I am...
I have always held them by there back legs and used a karate chop style blow right behind the ears, rarely do I have to hit them twice. A guy I work with said he uses a pipe and after haveing to hit a rabbit twice a while back I decided to try it. Unfortunatly I hit it to high and shattered its...
Thanks for all the replies and advice, after reading it all and doing some other research I decided that there isn't a single reason I want to do this. All the reasons that the article I read said it was a good idea to colonize seem to be false according to all the rest of my research. The main...
I read an article in one of my magazines about the pros and cons of doing this with your meat rabbits. Unfortunately it was a short article, but it got me interested and I am thinking about it. I figure I have all winter to do some researching and decide if it is something I want to do or not...

First litter is due today. She hasn't made a nest yet but she pulled a little hair a couple weeks ago. I put the straw right in the nest box yesterday since she hadn't done it yet. My second litter is due sometime in the next 2 days and she has a nice nest ready to go. Pictures coming just as...
I recently got 2 young female potbellie pigs, they are still scared of me and I have to Chase them to catch them but they will let me get about a foot away before they run. Should I try to catch and handle them or or just sit and talk and give them time to come around? They are outdoors in a...
I just wondered into the pig section to ask the same question about males vs female for pets. We used to have a pot belied pig that was housebroke when I was young, it asked to go out and knew a few tricks including.g playing a small children's piano with its nose. They are very smart but they...
They should still be 2 weeks off but I went out to do chores this morning and discovered they both had a lot of hair pulled and were working on there nests. It's possible they where breed when I bought them but they both excepted my buck though. Either way I'm excited.
Hopefully I will get a couple nice bucks from the California/ new zealand doe that I bred to the dutch and I can breed them to the young californian/silver fox does I just bought. I will have a while to wait but they would make a nice match I think.
