A lot of cows do not have horns. We own Herefords and shorthorn cattle, as well as an Angus, and a milk cow. The only one with horns is the milk cow, though our shorthorn has thrown a calf with horns once or twice.
I take the seeds from my hay (the stuff that falls to the bottom ) and spread it around both my horse and cow pasture, and cover it with manure (do this in the fall) and by spring, I always have thick, full grass that is safe for both horses and cows.

:D Oh my! I don't think you have to worry about your animals though. We had a mother and three kittens under our chicken coop for the longest time, and they left the chickens to themselves, they usually leave after a while, they never stick around for too long, that's why we seldom see them.
