I think with my two that Daisy is cold turkey kinda girl and Hazel is a slow wean kinda girl. I will skip tomorrow with her and milk Thurs. Thanks for all the info.
I know, I know..... Hangs head and shuffles feet.
Cold turkey you say. I didn't milk yesterday with every intention of stopping cold turkey. Daisy seems fine, I think she was ready anyway. Hazel, I felt so bad for this morning I milked. Her udder was SO engorged. I never saw it so big. I...
Now come on folks, I know all you goat people have dried off at least one animal. Share. How do we do it? Cold turkey? Gradually?
This is why some people get discouraged using this forum. No answers to a valid question. I am pushy though. So will SOMEONE answer this question for the OP.
That was not to bad. The butchers were pleasant enough.
The boys on the other hand won't stop crying their lamb cry. It is killing me to listen to them. They keep looking for her. :hit
I think Ol'Thelma might have been mishandled before I got her. I am very touchy feely with the boys and Esther. I can see a huge difference in behavior between the animals born here and the ones acquired from elsewhere.
Well, Ol'Thelma took me off my feet today and my hip is pretty sore. I came right in and called the butcher. He said I could bring her in this afternoon but I couldn't do that with work and all. Monday morning the ol'girl has an appointment with the "camp counselor" for freezer camp. I just...
As I was sitting on the front step with Franz on my lap, applying pressure to his stump to stop the bleeding, DH comes out with a sock and duck tape. I look at him and asked what it was for. A bandage. "Um, Ok." Then I thought out loud, "Man, I wish I had some styptic powder." "I don't...
Yes, he knows. I did put a plastic sheet down and took all the necessary precautions so as not to get it on the ground. He understands what I did and didn't have a problem with it giving the method it was done. I can totally understand your concern. I could have worded it differently...
Thank you
Franz's horn came off in my hand this morning. Bright red blood, but not a lot. Dusted some more Wonder dust on it to help stop the bleeding. Is there anything I should be concerned about??
Little Franz, 8 weeks old has a broken horn. It is loose but not off by any means. It is bleeding. I dusted it with Wonder Dust. I don't know what else I should do. It is the top right horn. Cracked/broken from the bottom right horn. Down the middle of them.
Picture from earlier today...
My thoughts exactly. I am going out on a limb here but there is NO WAY that vet had test results without lancing it. Any blood drawn or did they just look at it and say, "Yup, that's CL."? Get another opinion.
I too have been dealt a raw deal with my goats. I got them both with lumps. I...
