    TGreenhut's Kidding Thread!

Its about that time again! First to go, we are watching Sasha. She is due either on the 14th of February or the 24th. That's because she came into heat, was bred, then came into heat once again ten days later and was bred again. I'm not sure which heat was a false heat so we are watching for...

    Goat Pictures and a hello!

Hi there! It's been forever since I've been on this site. The last time I was on was before this remodel of the website, so wow, it's changed a lot! I plan on coming on more often and I'd thought I'd share some recent pictures of my herd!

    My new goat!

This is Withrow's Lucky Esme! I bought her today from my 4-H leader. She was Reserve Grand Champion Nubian and Reserve best udder at the California State Fair. She is such a sweetie and she's gonna make a perfect showmanship goat. So happy! :D

    Anybody use this for worms?

I was going to buy the cattle pour-on Cydectin but I saw that Jeffers carries a sheep oral drench Cydectin: http://www.jefferspet.com/cydectin-oral-sheep-drench/camid/LIV/cp/0030468/ . Which do you think is better to use on my goats?

Diarrhea in 3 month old goats

My two, 3 1/2 month old bucks have diarrhea this morning. They were not on a coccidia prevention plan and they haven't been dewormed yet, so coccidia is what I'm thinking. But they were just moved into a new pasture with new trees and forage to eat. Could that be anything? Other than forage...

    Doe bleeding from vulva

I have a 4 year old doe who is bleeding from her vulva. It's similar to a woman's period. She is wagging her tail and blood is getting all over her back end. We have no boys in with her. She was supposed to be bred in October but she would have been due March 24, so we don't think she took. She...

Ever had to deal with respiratory infections in chickens? Tylan

Hi, I have a silkie who has a really bad respiratory infection. :( I'm thinking Chronic Respiratory Disease. Anyways, I am determined to save this chicken, even if it means she'll be a carrier of the disease her whole life. She is my only Chinchilla Grey silkie, she's a show winner, and a...

What do you suggest is the best thing for this wormy goat?

So I basically have my own mini hoof trimming business. I also give shots and deworm for goats for people who need help. Today I went to trim the hooves of one old goat that belonged to the aunt of the person who contacted me. They think the goat is 6-10 years old. The lady said that her aunt...

    Frustrating predators!

Just a rant :/ So I had a silkie hen on about 15 eggs and they were due to hatch on Saturday. I candled them and they were all fertile and growing healthy. I was gone at an FFA livestock judging competition all day Saturday so when I finally got home Sunday and went to check on the eggs, they...

    Lung worms??? Or something else

I don't know much about lung worms, but I have seen many posts on here about them lately and I am getting concerned that my goats might have them. I know that there are many reasons for goats to cough, but let me tell you my problems and see what you think.... I bought my goat, Sasha, from...

It's supplement and vaccination time again but I forget..

I need to give BoSe to my 5 goats but I forget how much I'm supposed to give. I'm getting it from my horse vet so I have to tell him how much I need. Does it go by weight, or is there a standard amount to give? I have a year old wether, 2 eight month old does, a pregnant yearling, and a pregnant...

    Tomorrow

My nubian doe was giving me a hard time trying to dry her up. I finally stopped milking her in August (I know- a long time ago). Her udder slowly became smaller and she was no longer producing milk. I thought I had finally dried her up and all she needed to do was absorb the rest of the milk in...

Is she in heat? Should I breed her now?

Ok, so I normally am really good at deciphering when goats come into heat (I know all the signs and how often they come into heat, etc.). But my doe Sassy, is giving me a hard time trying to tell when she is in heat. She's really quiet about it. So today we got a buck rag from the breeder we are...

    More questions on Copasure Bolus

I'm making a new post for this because I have new questions on copper bolus (copasure) for goats (And having OCD, I needed the post to be more specific now :P). As I found out on my last post, giving copper to goats is very controversial. Some say be VERY specific with weight, others say it...
