Hey folks,
Our new heifer Mabel is up for sale. She is full blood Jersey - sire is Riley 7JE859 Jersey from Select Sires. Her mom is a midi Jersey and this heifer has the potential of being a mid-size too. She was 27" tall at birth.
Mabel's mom (Daisy) is 48" tall. She peaked at 4 1/2...
This adorable cutie pie was just born this morning, at 11:30 AM. Daisy started intense labor probably around 6ish, and we were able to watch the birth.
It's cold here (had a few flurries this afternoon) so we gave her a fleece jacket.
We haven't decided on a name yet, but have narrowed it...
I'm selling a 9 year old grade draft mare. Taffy weighs approx. 950#. Very sweet and gentle. Taffy was a former pulling pony so she knows her commands. Rides and pulls but doesn't neck rein. She will make an excellent farm or riding pony with a bit of training. Need to sell ASAP or she'll be...
One of my friends 12 week Lion Heads has started squeaking and thumping whenever my friend goes to pick her up, but stops as soon as my friend is holding her. She just started this behavior recently -- up until a few days ago it was no big deal.
My friend has read that they will thump when...
Could you horse savvy folks check out my post on BYC about my horse's feet? Her frogs are all peeling at the ends and I'm not sure that they should be.

Thanks!
Yep, we bought that Percheron cross mare. Lots of pictures on my BYC thread... It's easier to just post the link, I'm running out of upload room here.
Everyone, here's Taffy!! :love

Just wondering how many of you horse owners tie/lock your horses in at night.
Is it necessary?
Anyone leave them free to come in and out as they please?
The farm with the Percherons we've been working with ties them in their open stalls at night. One of our friends ties (or locks) her 3 in; she...
Some farmer friends of ours called us up and asked if we'd want their Jersey/Holstein heifer that was born Saturday! She was 2 weeks early and needs some extra care and they don't have the time, so we went and looked at her and her mom today and we're picking her up Friday (no calves allowed in...
So my sister, dad and I went to look at another horse today. Well, pony, actually. :P I'll try and make this post brief and concise.
She's just across the border in PA on a farm with beefers and 3 other ponies The mare is an 8 year old Percheron/pony cross named Taffy, mostly white - excusing...

Which would be better: Haflinger gelding, Haflinger/Saddlebred cross gelding, or Haflinger mule?
Jobs would be general hauling/pulling, plowing, and occasional riding, living on 3 acres, with a cow/calf pair. We have found all 3 of those on Craigslist, but are unsure which would be better...
:P I joined a while ago, posted a bit, but spend most of my time over on BYC. Well... I can't live without a forum... and BYC is down for conversion....... So I came over here. Apparently I'm not alone. :woot
As you can see in my signature, I've got 12 chickens, 2 cats, 2 dogs, and 2 Jerseys...
In 2010 I had surgery, so now every time the weather is going to turn bad my incision sites ache. They're hurting now, so I went to check the weather...
I think it runs in the family, because my dad has the same problems. Anyone else have it?
I am unable to change my location in my profile. I go to my profile, and under "Personal" I go to select country and this is what I get:
The State drop down list is blank, and the only thing I can change is the region.
Any ideas? It's been like this for a while and I never found out why.
The original was started by debiraymond over on BackyardChickens.com, and I thought it would be nice to have one over here on BYH. So this is where we post some of the good things that happen in our lives. Everyone has those bad/terrible days, but if you looks close, there is ALWAYS something...
Hey all, I'm new here. I've been around over on BackYardChickens for several years though. :)
We are looking for a good dewormer for our 2 pigs -- most of the things we've found are injectable... and none of us (the 3 grown-up girls in the house) have the guts to do an injection. Do any of you...
