    How to dose Cydectin?

Cydectin injectable- 1ml/25# pour on- 1ml/10# Quest or Quest Plus- 2x plunger dose All of these are given orally. Never give Cydectin by injection. Not only does it not work as well (in goats) but the withdrawal time is extremely long.

    How To Put Her Down?

You should be past all withdrawal times then. If all the dewormers were given orally. Sorry you couldn't help her.

    How To Put Her Down?

Forgot to add. Around here you can take a live goat to the butcher and they will do the kill.

    How To Put Her Down?

Go ahead and take her to the butcher. They will just cut a CL abscess off and dispose of it even if it's internal. Just make sure you haven't used any meds on her recently. I know plenty of people that butcher CL positive does. Donna

    Goat weights

There can be a few reasons. When you raise show stock you want to push them to grow. So they're fed premium food. They are also either Fullbloods or high percentages. When you're raising commercial stock for food the only way to make money with them is to raise them on forage. Therefore they...

    Goat weights

That will vary. Show goats will be considerably larger then commercial stock. Our show buck at 7 months was 175#. Our does are anywhere from 100 - 120# Donna

The Age Old Question, How Close is Too Close?

I hate this statement because it's VERY inaccurate. Inbreeding is parent to child, full siblings, maybe even half siblings if there are similar genetics in the other part of the pedigree. Line breeding would be using a grandparent on your doe or having the same grandparent in sire and dam...

    Electric Fence ?'s from Newbie

Hi Vertigo, Welcome to BYH! You don't mention what you're trying to keep in (or out) but I think you have multiple problems going on. 1) DARE Enforcer, model DE 80 (low impedance .20 Joules This charger is way too small to give much of a charge. It's also rated to only do about 200' of...

    Remove wattles?

Not just any scissors. We used curved surgical scissors and sterilized them before each use. You have to know how deep you can cut. I don't recommend that everyone just jump into doing it. I'm a retired vet tech so I knew by feel where the best place to cut was. Donna

    Remove wattles?

 Sorry Southern. I hope I didn't freak you out. They were surgical scissors (sterilized). Honestly most of them never even reacted. Donna

    Remove wattles?

I really don't like them. A very long time ago when we raised pygmy goats we used to cut them off newborn goats. A quick snip and they're gone. Donna

    Best type of grass hay

They are almost identical in nutrition depending on when the Timothy is harvested. Being from the southeast we have no access to Timothy so I can't help you with which they prefer. My goats do eat orchard grass but I have a friend who has a few goats that prefer not to. Donna
