We're going to try LaManchas again

We picked out two little la manchas! The older one is going to stay and be bred (she will be due around her second birthday). She is a smaller build but is very sweet. I can't wait to bring her home. The younger one was born in June and is still teeny tiny. She is a bit more skittish, but I...

I'm very late in sharing my twin Finn babies

We had two little surprises in our back field last month - ram and ewe twins from our girl, Marmalade. We thought she was infertile, as she had been exposed many times. We had no clue she was even pregnant. DH came home from work and went to take some water out to the flock. He sent our...

We're going to try LaManchas again

I haven't posted in a very long time, but I have been lurking :) Ever since we went to the county fair in August, DH has been on a goatie kick. I kept waiting for the mood to pass, but it hasn't. DH wants to go look at some La Manchas tomorrow night...for our date night...which is also our...

    Good news and bad news

I haven't been on BYH in a long time because it seemed as though everything kept going wrong with my animals and I wasn't going to post until I had some good news. Yesterday morning our Finn ewe, Clara, decided to bring forth her first young. We missed it (she didn't give any indication of...

Please explain the sheep version of the birds and the bees to me...

Thanks for remembering this thread. I had posted about my ewe that sickened and died suddenly (her liver shut down). That was the same ewe in this post, my darling Thumbie. So she never had the opportunity to be a mama.

How do I know if the doe has accepted her kits?

I got the surprise of the month yesterday monring when dd came in screeching about something being wrong with Lilly (our year-old REW English Angora). After losing our other doe to the heat about three weeks ago, I have been walking on pins and needles, making sure Lilly and Gus (the buck) were...
