Welcome, llbolen! What kind of rabbits do you have? I have American Chinchillas, and I LOVE raising them :)

*GRAPHIC PIC!* Old eye injury, advice?

This is ridiculous. I've called a few vets in the area, all consider rabbits to be "exotic", so an exam ALONE is $50 (more than an exam for our 50# dog!), not to mention any eye meds and the procedure to have the eye sealed. Good grief. For now I will just watch to make sure she doesn't seem...

*GRAPHIC PIC!* Old eye injury, advice?

I need to pick up some VetRX to keep on hand anyway. I certainly don't want her experiencing any unnecessary discomfort just because it's too expensive to have closed up.

*GRAPHIC PIC!* Old eye injury, advice?

Our Vet, as good as they are with our dog, actually charges MORE to see a rabbit than our 50# dog :P Good to know about full disclosure during vet care; I didn't think about medication rendering a meat animal useless for that purpose.

*GRAPHIC PIC!* Old eye injury, advice?

I'm going to call the Vet today to find out how much they would charge. I'd like to close it, ideally, but it might have to wait depending on cost.

*GRAPHIC PIC!* Old eye injury, advice?

I've had her for a couple weeks now, the breeder had been rinsing/wiping with water to keep it cleaned, but I haven't touched it, partly to see if any extra care was even necessary. At the time I was still debating if I was going to keep her or process her. I've since decided to keep her as a...

*GRAPHIC PIC!* Old eye injury, advice?

I'm starting my meat production herd. I have an Am Chin buck, and I also have a Sable x Am Chin doe that suffered an eye injury in the nestbox, she was about 10 days old. She's now 11 weeks old, seems completely fine, but I am concerned that her eye will cause issues in the future. The eye isn't...

Almost 8 week old doe abnormal vaginal issue?

I jumped to the "OMG there's something WRONG with her!!!!" conclusion lol I worked at a vet clinic many years ago, saw a dog that did have a fissure at his anal glands, and when I saw that deep crease on her, that is exactly what it reminded me of >< note to self: study rabbit anatomy more...

Almost 8 week old doe abnormal vaginal issue?

Hi LadyIsabelle2011, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Good grief, that's exactly what it is, whew! I'm so relieved! :celebrate

Almost 8 week old doe abnormal vaginal issue?

I've been checking, double-, triple- and quadruple-checking the sex of my almost 8 week old bunnies, making sure who are boys and who are girls, and I noticed something on one of the girls that seems very odd. Along the outside of her vagina, on both sides, there seems to be a very deep crease...

Is it possible/advisable to house rabbits & chickens in the same barn?

Awesome, secuono! Good idea with the fan, too. I talked with hubby last night about the new barn construction, and he had no objections about it...except that now with the attached rabbit runs it might not fit in the littler fenced critter yard >< So, more measuring today to try and figure out...

Is it possible/advisable to house rabbits & chickens in the same barn?

Hmmm, good point, ksalvagno. Would additional windows/ventilation areas help keep the dust from becoming an issue for the rabbits?

Is it possible/advisable to house rabbits & chickens in the same barn?

My husband has the computer programs to make something like this just on screen or printable...do I know how to use it? No, no I do not. Hence the scribbled out, scissored out, taped together rendering lol

Is it possible/advisable to house rabbits & chickens in the same barn?

Oh and the hanging thing in the back between the rabbits and chickens is the hanging water bucket for the chickens

Is it possible/advisable to house rabbits & chickens in the same barn?

Ok, now I feel better; I was freaked out with the weight loss, but it makes sense if I do it slower they will handle it better :) Sooo...I got motivated about figuring out the combo rabbit/chicken barn...I made a 3d model LOL I'm so weird :D Too much time on my hands, obviously! I think it will...

Is it possible/advisable to house rabbits & chickens in the same barn?

Hi secuono, I noticed the start of a pest problem (likely rat) when I was free feeding the hens (6 chickens total at that time), so I removed their automatic feeder and was tossing out a couple large scoops each morning for them; they dropped weight alarmingly, even when I upped the amount I was...

Is it possible/advisable to house rabbits & chickens in the same barn?

I'm dealing with a small space for my rabbits (4 adults, 7 kits) and chickens (9 hens, 5 chicks). Chickens are currently in a chicken tractor, rabbits are in 2'x3' hutches. My husband intended to build a 6'x8' shed to house the chickens to replace our now too small chicken tractor, but I'm...

    Ruby's first litter - woohoo!

Ruby raised all 7 kits wonderfully; they are 5 weeks old, frisky, curious, eating and drinking on their own, and completely adorable. Here's some pics, a group shot and individual pics too :D
