    Taking newborn kids away

Thank you for that Mossy. We are milking our does & we are planning on selling the kids, so bottle feeding is probably going to be easier in the long run because I won't have to ween from Mom, I hadn't even thought about that part. I am exhausted from all the bottle feeding/milking/cleaning...

    Taking newborn kids away

The theory is that if the mom lays in poo then the oocyts can then get consumed by the nursing kids. I know my breeder lost several kids her 1st year and wound up with some very small goats from the same year. Her vet recommended pulling kids bc the coccidiosis was killing them. All her goats...

    Taking newborn kids away

Anyone else feel badly taking newborn kids away from mom? Our does came from high coccidia farms & our breeder said she has always pulled kids & bottle fed. So we did & Mom is so so upset, the babies could care less, but she is yelling up a storm. I feel like a turd. I know it is to keep...

NEW GOAT OWNER WHAT SHOULD I FEED HER

Hay is a must. Goats are browsers and not grazers. Grass will not be sufficient for her. If she was in a haven of shrubbery you *might* be able to feed her off your land, but I am assuming that is not the case. Grain isn't necessary if you are not breeding her & making sure she has enough...

    Disbudded Bud "Erupting" Pus??

Poor thing. They did a horrible job disbudding, it almost looks as though it hasnt been done at all! She will likely battle scurs for life (well you will anyway) :). It looks as though she has an infection, her eye looks a little red in that picture too?. I would likely have the vet culture...

    Disbudded Bud "Erupting" Pus??

If you don't have her away from your other animals go do that right now! Sore mouth is extremely contagious, and yes, you can catch it too! Can you post a picture of the bud? Sore mouth doesn't have to be on her mouth, & I am curious if she has a bit on her head as well...just a thought. If...

Suburban- I hope you are right, I hadn't thought about that! My girl started with zero udder at all. She's 150 days on the 25th, so we will know soon enough I suppose :) Crafty-I'll keep looking, but please let us know when she kids what happens to that udder! Best!

Odd udder *Patricia had her baby!!!* **PICS pg3**

I have a Nubian whose udder looks *exactly* like that! She is a first freshener due on 5/25 & I know that she has not kidded before. I have been searching like crazy to see what I can find that could be the cause to no avail. Can they get mastitis without ever having kidded before? I would...
