    Automatic waterers

How long have you had this system? How many cages do you have attached to it? Any problems installing or running this system? Did you purchase the kit or the individual componants? Thank you so much for you help. This is going to be a big step forward for our growing rabbitry!

    Automatic waterers

Yes, the heat is crazy. Most of our buns live in the barn in wire cages. The barn is dirt-floored with large open doors on either side. It usually stays a good bit cooler in summer, but that still tends to be pretty hot. I'm sure our NC notorious humidity doesn't help either, it makes it...

    Automatic waterers

I have tried this on a more rabbit specific forum and have had 25 views but no responses. I figured I'd try here and test my luck. We have a growing rabbitry and here in the NC summer these regular water bottles just aren't cutting it. Sometimes they run dry between fillings( a HUGE frustration...

    Snakes a danger to rabbits?

We went out to the barn to check on our doe that was giving birth. As I peer through the top of the cage into the nest box, something moved 8 inches away from my face in my peripheal. I squealed and jumped back, my husband about tripped over himself as he jumped back as well and then as our eyes...

    Equipment Review

Don't most people just buy the 'stackable' cages and just hang them? I think they are the same cages, just to stack them you add the stacking equipment. To hang them, you get cables or chain or some other means of hanging them and just do it. I may be wrong, but I think that there aren't...

    Equipment Review

Thanks! We don't have any Fleet Farm stores here in NC, just Tractor Supply. But I did the math and it would be cheaper to buy all the seperate componants at TSC and then just buy the auto waterers from somewhere else. Are the Havaheart rabbit cages the same quality as the Basse? It would...

    Equipment Review

Thank Anthony, just have a quick question. I searched Fleet Farms on your suggestion and can't seem to locate those cages. Have you seen them on the website and I'm somehow overlooking them? Thanks a ton, -Kim

    Rabbit Waste Seperation

Waste seperation would be good for worm bins. Although the manure isn't hot, the urine is very hot and will often 'burn' the worms. I found this out the hard way on my first worm bin which was almost 100% week or two old rabbit waste from under the cages. The worms died almost instantly. Woops.

    Equipment Review

Looking to update some of my equipment, now that we know we like rabbits and will continue on with them. I was looking at the 3 stackable 30" X 36" cages from Basse Equipement with the metal pans. Also looking at upgrading to auto-waterers. For the 3 stackable cages and 6 autowaterers come to...

    I want a Belgian Blue!

There is no end to the insanity. Just look at the dogs you see today, English bulldogs, pugs, and any other brachycephalic breed of dog, most of these dogs need caesareans or other assistance with birth and reproduction.

Mini Jersey vs Jersey; and other mini questions

Thanks guys. Do the minis have any 'special' needs? Are they more predator prone because of their size? Are they more susceptable to the weather because of their size? Oh, how do they fare with larger cattle? Do they need to be kept seperate? I know with miniature horses and standard horses...

    I want a Belgian Blue!

I think the Belgian Blues look very neat and I'm on of those people that would have an animal just for looks. LOL I think I'd have to draw the line at these mammoths, now if I had the money, facilities and time, I would so be developing a MINI BELGIAN BLUE! I know, I'm a dork, but the only...

Mini Jersey vs Jersey; and other mini questions

I have read the other mini threads, but I have some specific questions if someone can help. One day I hope to buy a Jersey milk cow. Lately the mini Jerseys have caught my attention. Can I get the pros and cons of minis vs full size. I know that the minis are more expensive, so we'll skip...

    A little worried.. past due?

Went to close the coop up a little late tonight. Stopped in to check on the buns, she's pulling hair like a mad creature. Perhaps we'll have baby buns in the mornin. :D

    A little worried.. past due?

I sifted through the poo, hay, and urine, didn't find anything that looked like baby bunny parts. Also looked through that corner of the cage, and didn't find anything. The blood was only where there was urine, or something that seemed like urine. She is a Californian/NZ and I didn't see any...

    A little worried.. past due?

So I went ahead and had the first doe bred and then the second a few days later. Well, doe #1's day 28 was last Wednesday, now it's Sunday. She hasn't even pulled fur.. There is blood in and below the cage in her urine... Doe #2's day 28 was today, and she hasn't been pulling any fur? Are they...

How do you get a 2,000 lb bull in a trailer?

Just wait him out. His stomache will overcome his fear and he'll get in. We recently trained our 4 year old quarter horse to load into the trailer. I expected a huge scene of struggle and whatnot, but he walked right in like he did it every day of his life. Helped I had his grain bucket. LOL

Start up equipment for a new handmilker?

Where in NC? I'm a quick learner! Does she need a home for her cow? ;) Unfortunately, cow shares seem to have been made "illegal" in 2004, not sure on the currect progress of that.
