Thanks, yeah the smaller bumps have now gotten bigger and it looks pretty gross to me. I was wondering if they would shrink back down after she weaned.
I have a ewe with weird bumps on her teats. I've noticed them for months and never saw much change with them, We got her a year ago and she might have actually had them when we got her. She's feeding twins without a problem. They haven't seem to have done much but it seems like the smaller ones...
I have a permanent woven wire/tpost fence system. No hot lines on it at all. I just started running temporary electric netting in different areas. Currently the charger is sitting in my garage and I ran the grounding system across my yard which is less than ideal.
Could I use the wire/tpost...
She started showing early signs this morning. At 12pm I went out and she had clear goo hanging from her. At 12:30 she was cleaning a healthy lamb. It's now 2:30, she pawing at the ground all over and gritting her teeth but not much else going on.
Do I try and give her privacy, time to call the...
The ram actually still lives with them all. I'm working on pasturing off other areas and getting him separated when I find another ram for him to live with. The lesson I learned this year is that winter lambing in Michigan suuucks. Bundling up every 30-60 minutes because my ewes like to give...
I have come to the conclusion that she is just fat and have begun cutting her grain portion. What does this mean for her? With a first time ram and ewes could her heat cycle just have been missed? Would she have not gone back into heat all winter?
Well, still no udders and all over her barn mates have 3 to 4 week old lambs. She seems to have the same bulging sides like everyone else. Could she just be fat from being on the same diet as pregnant and now lactating ewes?
The whole group has lived with the same ram since last July. It was a...
Yeah a bigger one would be nice so I could load the bed and trailer with hay. So far I've seen one decent two horse one for $2000 on craigslist. It's pretty good looking with tack compartments up front. Those tack compartments look handy but almost a waste of space for my purposes. This one has...
I'm looking for a small livestock trailer. Hopefully $2000 tops, will just be used a few times a year to move a few sheep around.
Any tips on where to find one? I've been checking craigslist but no luck yet.
I wish I had a sweater but as long as it makes it through this morning, this is the coldest forecasted for the next week. It's 5:30am and my thermometer is showing 9 degrees and it seems to be fine.
It's in a enclosed barn in plywood pens so we're good there. The normal pen door is a wood slat...
I think we're good, it's been trying and appears to be successful in eating all day. She circles around it, always left turns so, so far it always seems to eat off the left side and that side of the bag is noticeably smaller.
It's now about 20 hours old and I just saw it poop. Very dark poop...
Yeah I tried that route and it didn't seem to help much. I'm keeping an eye on it for now just hoping it will stay warm enough and get hungry enough to make a better attempt.
It looked like the mom made one try to push the lamb to her udder. Would it help the bonding if I put on a glove, rubbed...
Ive got the mom tied off but it seems like this lamb cant find the target. Doesnt seem to have much drive to eat. It will butt its head in there and wag its tail but I don't think its finding the target.
First time mom had her first lamb come out tonight. She got to cleaning it pretty quickly. A little while later a small stillborn came out. I saw it wasn't moving so I went in, checked it and pulled it out so she wouldn't waste her time cleaning it off. After that she didn't seem to bother too...
