I am getting a BEW Netherland Dwarf next week and I am wondering what are the 'breeding' rules for breeding them. What colors can you breed to BEWs? This may be a dumb question, but people have told me you can only breed it with other BEW's and Otters. Is that true?
This may seem like a dumb question, but how much do you feed your Mini Rex? I feed mine a little over a 1/2 cup, along with hay. Shes not used for breeding - I am just holding her at my rabbitry for a little girl, so shes not used for anything but a pet. How much do you recommend feeding a Mini Rex?
Thanks for the reply Bunnylady! Its been about 4 days since we've returned now and he seems to be doing fine. Eating and drinking normal. Fecal and pee matter are normal now. I will keep an eye on him though. Thanks for the information!
Royd, yes, but I've just got a Simmental steer and an Angus Heifer - for 4-H :D
elevan, nope, no goats!
Pearce, I love Netherland Dwarfs :) I'm from Isanti County, you?
Hello! I found this site yesterday through google and decided to join! My name is Paige and I am from Minnesota. I breed Netherland Dwarf rabbits and have about a 20 hole rabbitry. I have bred rabbits for about 7 years and I am active in 4-H and the ARBA! I'm excited to check out this site and...
Like others have said, wear a sweatshirt or something fairly thick and a pair of gloves. The scratching behavior is just what rabbits do. The more you handle it, the more calm it will get and can help stop the scratching issue. Most rabbits really don't like being held, and I don't really blame...
I'm not sure if this is the board this topic belongs under, but anyways, I spent 4 days down at the MN State Fair showing rabbits in 4-H. I had one rabbit that would NOT drink or eat at all while we were down there.
I know the rabbit was most likely stressed and didn't want to drink, plus the...
Like everyone else said, its probably because of the pregnancy. I wouldn't worry about it too much, they will probably return back to normal after kindling. I wouldn't necessarily like to be dealt with being a pregnant rabbit either! I have a doe who turns nasty when shes pregnant, and after...
Like oneacrefarm said, it sounds like the other one has wry neck, because that behavior does not sound normal.
The other doe probably has something wrong with her, otherwise she could be wanting to breed. Breed her again.
I have about 7 does and 4 bucks currently, all of which are not spayed or neutered. I find that my bucks are much more friendlier than my does. One of my rabbits sprays when you go near him, but my other bucks seem fine and I don't have any problems with that. I would say it doesn't really...
I think she just thinks you're playing. Try giving her something to chew on in her cage if she doesn't already.
I have a little heifer named Cleopatra haha
I recently had dealt with wry neck in one of my rabbits for about 4 months, until he passed away. Breeders around my suggested injecting Pen G (Can't remember the exact dosage), yogurt mixed with the pellets, and veggies given every day. I have raised rabbits for 7 years and have never had to...
It may just be because, like the others said, its her first litter. It took one of my does 3 litters, with the 3rd being successful, to get live babies or ones that actually survived. I wouldn't get too bummed out about it and just rebreed her.
I don't recall any of my does first litters ever...
