attn: boarding barn owners & employees! Boarders, you too!

I've only worked at two different places so far. The first place was a lovely facility and the owners were great folks. They treated the barn crew like family. They ran a tight ship but I admire that. One boarder would come and lunge the owners young stallion occasionally and one day she asked...

attn: boarding barn owners & employees! Boarders, you too!

If you own or work for a boarding facility or even rent out your own personal stalls, I want to hear about your "Boarders from Hell" And Boarders, if you have a fellow boarder who seems oblivious to Barn Etiquette, I want to hear about that too. Of course, please change names or if they've...

what kind of bedding do you use?

Well, my days of sawdust are over. Big Boss just filled the bedding shed with pine shavings again... :he Only because its "cheaper". I'm not entirely convinced that it is cheaper, when you think about how much DOESN'T fall through the tines of the pitchfork. ...not a huge fan of shavings

Ok folks, just want to say thank you one more time for all of your help! I talked to boss lady today and relayed all of your info and advice. :ep holy crap! I never even would have thought that there were home tests!!! That is awesome! The price alone might help me convince boss lady to do something about this! what kind of bedding do you use?

What we use now is kind of a sawdust, the feed store we go to has it bagged up for $5, I love it! Cuts stall cleaning time in half. We used to get big fluffy shavings and I totally agree, Huge PITA! Its more expensive and wasteful. I'm on the fence about pelletized bedding, its easy to sift...

more horse/biting flies than you can shake a stick at!!

Does anyone have any successful home remedies for deterring horse/biting flies for us two-leggers? Down here in Florida we have too many kinds to count, the typical golden brown-ish kind, florescent yellow-green ones, even some the size of golf balls that sound like little helicopters when the...

    Diatomaceous Earth (DE)

DE is still new to me, we don't use it at present but after seeing that its a main ingredient in most equine fly repellant supplements I am very interested in trying it. I had only heard of it being used internally but now that I know I can use it for my chickens I may have to pick some up
