I have my latest copy of Caprine News. In it is a new method of disbudding baby goats. A serum of extract of cloves is injected into the buds at about 5 days of age. There was a trial done, with one side injected, the other not. Very successful trial done. Very interesting. Wouldn't it be...
I ordered Toltrazuril on Thursday, received it on Saturday.
It's the one time treatment for Coccidia for goats. I love the stuff. It tastes good.

I've got about 35 chickens, I'd like to add 3 or 4 turkeys to my flock. I can keep the turkeys in a small coop inside the chicken house till they get as large as the chickens, and the chickens can see them all the time while they grow. Then will they live together without fighting?

Sissy kidded Friday 4:00 am. She ate just a little then, and I gave her water, and she drank a small bit.
She has not drank any water since yesterday and won't eat anything today.
She has a temp of 103.6.
I didn't see her pass afterbirth, but she could have eaten it.
I just talked to my vet...
I just ordered a new medicine to treat cocci in goats and it came today.
It's called Baycox(toltrazuril coccidiocide) and it is $44.00 for 200 ml. plus shipping.
The dosage is 1ml per 5 lbs of goat---ONE TIME. YIPPEE. this is the preventative dosage.
If you are dosing a goat with cocci...
I know a person can give 40% Dimethox to goats ORALLY for coccidia.
Can it be injected instead? It is an injectible medicine for cattle, but goat people usually give it orally.
It is a real chore to get it down a goat. It is a vile tasting medicine and almost chokes them when given orally...
I've given Ivomectin at the rate of .10 cc per 10lbs of dog for worms for several years now.
I can't find the flea/tick collar I used to use, Preventix, because they don't make it anymore my feed store says.
I haven't had a collar on the four dogs yet this spring, and I still don't see any...
My goats are eating a lot of bicarb of soda now.
I am putting it out daily in a feeder in the barn.
It's the kind you buy in big bags at the feed store, not at the drug store.
Everything is very green, their tummies are used to hay, and they need it for their rumens.

I put down a ff doe this morning. She had give birth 24 hours ago to a single doeling.
Her udder was hard as a rock, she had severe mastitis, wouldn't eat or drink and couldn't get up.
She was starting to show symptoms of pneumonia as well.
An unscrupulous breeder just outside Tulsa...
I am wondering what a person would use for colustrum if they had just regular goat milk but no colustrum frozen?
I have Hoegger's powdered colustrum on hand, could you just put the required amount in some goat milk and feed it to the newborn for 3 days?
I have a CAE doe that I need to pull...
I have found some references on line to using Vicks Vapor Rub on a goat with a congested udder.
I was afraid she might have mastitis Saturday so I called my super duper vet and he came right out and gave her the test, which was neg. and checked her milk, no blood and no stringy stuff.
He then...
I'm watching TV this morning and the talk is all about the 40 inches of snow expected in New England.
What do you do when the weather is like it's going to be up there??
How do you take care of your family and your animals?
Do you tie a rope from the house to the barn??
You Northerners are...

I have been following Roll Farms advice and giving my goats their yearly Essential CD & T shot IM in the hip area.
Everyone got their yearly shot yesterday, so they are all on the same schedule.
This is the way Kim does it and I have found it's so easy. I use a l/2 inch 20 gauge needle and...
Three months ago I was in a quandry about giving a 12.5 Copasure bolus to my goats. They were showing signs of copper deficiency, fishtales and black goats were streaked with brown/copper coloring
I was trying to figure out dosage, etc. when I got a PM from Donna (20kidsonahill).
She informed...
As my subject line hints, this is a post about other things my goats eat besides their small amount of grain and hay.
Oops, hit the wrong button, got to edit this, LOL
Anyway, my goats had a great fall eating deadfall from a huge pear tree accross the road from our ranch. The neighbor kindly...
I have been told by a friend that there is an ingredient in beer that you can give a goat which will up milk production.
Has anyone heard of that or know the name of the ingredient??

Hey guys, I really wish when folks register they would put in the state in the US that they live in, I don't need your address or your underwear size, but I'd love to know what part of the US you are in.
I promise I won't come looking for you, and if I do, I'll bring all my goats with me...
