With the start of the new year, many are placing orders to restock much needed item needed for managing our herds and flocks. I thought it would be good to start a thread so those that are newer to this the world or raising livestock might have some good resources.
This is for all animals, so...

Most of the dams to the doelings available have met their requirements for...
As many of you know our LGD, Pete, had fallen very ill last month. There were many ups and downs. We didn't know if he would make it. Emergency vet visits, farm call, IV & SubQ fluids, blood sample after blood sample, you name it, we did it. It was touch and go but he survived! He lost a...
As many of you know, we attended the NC State Fair last weekend. It has been a rough month for us. Hurricane Michael throwing us a hard blow just before fair. Loss of power for 4 days, my brand new clippers breaking, one of our LGD's near death and needing emergency vet care, broken fences, you...
Lil' Joe, a Nigerian Dwarf buck, has been a great herdsire for us. We picked Lil' Joe back in early 2014. We didn't know much about conformation, let alone showing. But there were about 7 other bucklings available, and @Southern by choice & I looked over each kid and their dam. We picked Lil'...
This is a bit delayed, just so busy around here!
Last weekend we set off to Indiana. This whole trip got thrown together pretty quickly.
We were headed up to Muncie, IN. It was about a 10 hour drive. On our way up (Friday afternoon) we made a small detour to southern part of the state, and...

I was going over some pics today and had to share this. I just love these two does!
These two are inseparable, despite having 12 other kids being...
A few weeks ago we had a cold spell, the goats were clipped down and the weather was just nasty.
I bedded the barns down but the does were still chilly.
So I went ahead and mixed up a big bucket of beet pulp and poured a couple gallons of hot water over it. Let it soak in for a few minutes and...
It got pretty chilly the last few nights. Some of the goats are clipped closer than the others. It's never caused an issue but last week it was really warm, this week it dropped into the upper 30's. :epThat was a hug, sudden drop that threw everyone off.
Had to run some lamps for the spring...

Absolutely disgusting! I am seeing this happen more and more often.
A big Mini breeder in OR had several animals shot and others poisoned. I am seeing more and more random animal killings. Years ago it used to be...
