I ended up with a one nut male. Will he still be able to breed. I know other animals can but anyone have had this happen to them... help please....Jim

Maybe, maybe not!

We had a steer that when he was banded one of the testi slid up and although it appeared that the band had both, it only had one. Vet said that as the testi was up close to the body the heat from the animal may make him sterile, but not certainly. We had the vet surgically remove it to be sure.

This is actually a pretty common occurance. I am sure some others with more experience will jump on and offer their expertise.

Did you or someone else try to castrate this Pig ? If that is the case, yes he can still breed or possibly not. If this pig (or any other male animal) was born with just one testicle, it is a genetic fault condition known as chriptorchism and should not be used for breeding.

I agree. If he was born that way then I would not breed him. It is more than likely a genetic defect and you don't want that being passed on. If someone tried to castrate him but left one then he may be able to breed. You really don't know. We were giving most things in pairs so we have a backup. :lol:
