Had to give bottle to Papaya twins last night, the spotted one was able to keep nursing on his own afterwards. Black one needed more, but they're eating on their own this morning.

Katsura is still being a witch. Gave eweling a morning bottle and then milked mom and gave that. Tiny udder. Funny, because Holly has a massive one for a first timer and so do the others.

All lambs born have been in better body condition this year, so, definitely going to keep with the soybean meal and will have to get orchard hay in bulk to not run out.
Forgot to mention that they went up to 4 scoops, now 5 scoops 2× a day. But there's 6 moms removed thus far, I'll slowly start backing off it as more are removed from the expecting group.
Positives have been zero cases of choke! No need to soak or top with corn. It's been much nicer and faster feeding them.

No new births this morning, another super cold night, so that's good.

Oh, I didn't post the round bale feeder?

Shoving hay over and peeling the bale is much easier & less murder on the lungs than pulling small amounts onto a tarp, dragging over to feeder & dumping it in small amounts.

Moved the fence to the horse trough, since the square feeder was tucked in a corner and round feeder put in front. Lost 4×16ft of space, so now they have about 15×25ft of new space off to the right side.1679405479053.jpg

I found it funny because you said lawnmowers. A lawnmower you can pet and hug is more fun than one you gotta push.
Sorry, meant that at show sebright.

Having them as very expensive pets. I thought they were for wool since you let it grow out. Should shear em like a poodle
Few people care about their wool, as it's 1-2", 3" if lucky. They're mostly advertised as smiling bear-sheep, towards the pet people. So, it's hard to find meat buyers & wool breeders to swap with.

I've thought of painting coats fun patterns, so people driving by would get a laught at the tiny zebra, pink blocks, giraffe & such, but they're always shredding them so fast. 🤦🏽‍♀️ And everyone is slightly different sized and last summer made the wool not worth protecting for many.

Closest to funny shearing is-

Decided to let a few moms & babies out, since it was in the 50s, now 60s. They'll be locked up for the night, though.

Papaya & lambs got banded & tagged, too. Not quite strong enough to go out with the others yet.

And Katsura & eweling. Less hateful, but still not accepting enough. No tag or band for her yet, not strong enough for more stress.

Tiny amount of milk out of a tiny udder half. 😅

I milk and freeze extra colostrum for possible needy babes. Of course you're just beginning lambing. My goats began 1/31.... But you have the small type lambs, less quantity. Hope she and mom work it out. 🙏. They are so cute in their blue coats.
I keep powdered colostrum on hand.
There's always so little of it and moms that loose lambs tend to be very hard to catch. 😑

Locked moms & babies up for the night.

Fox tried to sneak up.
