Conservationists cheer at the population recovery of wild animals. People who get attacked and possibly eaten aren’t too happy about that. Tigers are highly protected.
Black bears are making a comeback in Texas. 2 have shown up on game cameras lately. Conservationists are thrilled, they say we need apex predators to balance out the ecosystem. Ummmm….. no we don’t. Hunters can shoot deer, feral hogs and balance out the ecosystem. WE are the apex predator. Bears are highly protected.
Edited to add: cougars are protected in various states. In Texas they cannot be left in a trap for more than 36 hours and cannot be released in a confined area for “canned” hunting. If you shoot one, you are supposed to report it.
