It is -30 degrees here
It is supposed to be even colder tomorrow so I had to take care of my chickens and that took an hour. It's so cold that the plastic waterer cracked when I dumped water on it so now I have metal waterers in all the coops

It is supposed to get all the way up to zero degrees tomorrow!
that will feel nice after the past week

Tonight me and my oldest sister made a deal and whoever got the highest score in archery could name the other person's goat this summer.

My sister got 94 points and I got 30 points so now she gets to name my goat this summer.

I just got signed up to do the 4-H chick project! I will get them at the beginning of March

for the chick program the breeds I can get are: Rhode Island Red, Novogen Silver or Maran. I don't remember what color Maran I can get it.
I hope I end up with RIR's or Maran I don't mind getting Novogen Silvers but I would have to show them in a pen of 3 since they aren't an accepted breed and I would rather show individual birds

Marana can be several colors, black, splash, etc. They're usually nice birds....mine have been. Dark brown eggs.

I had to look up the Novagen chicken. I did not know anything about them. They sound interesting. Super laying hens!

Today one of the cockerels that hatched in September started crowing. I don't know which Cockerel was crowing.

My mom asked how I knew it was one of the chicks crowing
I can just tell what each rooster sounds like they all sound different but no one else in my family can tell the difference between their crows.

When I was in the other bantam coop I looked to see if they need feed and there was an egg in the feeder. They have one of the hanging feeders and I think that the chick that hatched here in 2024 was the one that got in the feeder she likes to get into weird places like that
