7 week old baby lamatcha is not eating her bottle! EURGENT

Want to add... the fact that she's not pooping is a big concern as well... you might need to use your drenching syringe and ger some water and electrolytes into her. There's also a product for goats called Power Punch, that helps give them a boost and can help stimulate appetite...

She drank some water whitch is good but She still wont toutch the bottle and shes not as active as she normaly is. she is called poppy becuse shes hoppy but ive not seen her hop once today...

this morning she wont even toutch her bottle... she eats 3-4 cups of milk In a feeding she weighs about 16-20 pounds. she is still nibbling on things but not actuly eating it.... She has had acess to Grain, hay and water for several weeks now. . . . If it helps i have not seen her poop yet and she keeps doing this weired streatch offten...
Bottle goats don't self wean...
That is right - bottle babies will continue to go for the botte even after they are grown.

The refusal to eat and the "odd stretching" sounds like she is constipated and it hurts. Does she look bloated? You could give her a syringe of Kaopectate (the pink stuff from the drug store will work) to try to relieve the problem. I would not try to get her to eat since if she is not pooping her gut is probably full. You could also get some paste electrolyte (horse electrolyte at the feed store) and paste probiotic (same place) to try. The paste stuff is esy to administer to an animal tht is refusing to eat, and because it is salty it encourages them t drink water. If you can calm down the gut with the Kaopectate so she can poop it may help.

Is she a large kid that eats heavily? If so, and she has been encouraged to eat as much as she wants, she may have enterotoxemia even though vaccinated. Entero can and does hit large healthy bottle kids who tend to be big eaters. The common name for entero is "over eaters disease". For future reference, leaving bottle kids a little bit hungry is better for their guts. We lost a large healthy bottle lamb to Entero very suddenly due to this phenomenom a couple years ago.

Good luck. Hope she recovers. At 7 weeks you can cut down her milk intake if she survives to avoid another occurrence.

If she is bloated or constipated, give her mineral oil. 10 cc;s, wait an hour, then if no poop, 10 more. I have given bloated sheep and colic horses mineral oil until they are farting it out. LOL It sure relieves pressure. If enterotoxemia, then I have no suggestions.

Sry just read your guys posts but it looks like she Did poop while i was gone today! Its dry but i can tell that she has the runs and shes showing sighns of wanting a bottle! Im going to see if she will eat...

I make sure her stumic isnt hard when feeding and she often stops before then she is a larger baby goat for her age but this year has been a year for large babys and tiny babys... and the weight was an estimit...
