Hi all. Long time no post.
I don't think I ever got around to posting our first litter of english angora rabbits around Christmas. Momma was a very good first time mom, but she dried up Christmas evening and when we noticed, it was too late and nothing was open to buy supplies.
We had 6 kits last time and they almost had their eyes open before they all passed away.

So we waited a while and bred her again on the 2nd of Feb. Last night she kindled 9 kits!

We are more prepared than we were the first time. We have replacement formula just in case she drys up again and all the syringes and bottles and what have you to at least try to save them if it happens. We have also added Calf Manna to her diet. She gets the highest protein content we can get around here which I believe is 17%, groats and BOSS. Also all the timothy hay and water she wants.

Here's to better luck this time!

They are probably only a couple hours old here. I went to bed at 9:30pm (no babies) and when I got up to let the dog out around 1:00 am there they were! :D

Thanks for the updated photo! So, they are 1 day old?
Wow, they are growing fast. Their wrinkles are all gone and they are starting to get fuzzy :weee:love

We lost a baby yesterday. I think we have two runts and he just wasn't able to fight for milk.
We tried holding momma and letting it nurse and tried to hand feed it too. It seemed to be working but he just didn't make it. Perhaps something else was wrong internally that we couldn't see.

We still have 8 so it's not all bad. Seven of them are very large and healthy.
I hand fed the remaining runt last night and it seemed to be doing well this morning. Hopefully we can help this one.

I'm attaching the best picture I could get of the size difference (they sure are squirmy).

Here is another even though they moved the second I snapped the photo I think it shows the size difference better.
