I got a pig last Monday and he was 30pounds and looked kind of skinny. His spin was showing but nothing else really showing. He was in a nice size pen with other pigs that were about 110-200 pound pigs. So I was thinking he was so small because of his size and he didnt eat to much. The info I need is that he is breathing and he does some weird noise and his stomach does some movement as well. What can this mean or what can I give him so he gets ride of it?
Also what can I feed him to fatten him up?

First, give him a dose if Ivomec, and then feed him a full feed ration of commercial hog grower or starter. The starter might be better since it has more fat and protein.

What is Ivomec do? I have gave him a pumkin to deworm him and nothing else but that.
The feed he is getting is 18% protein..

JHM is exactly right, please give it a real wormer and feed to try to turn it around.


If it absolutely doesn't respond, it may just simply be internally defective. Or uneven feeding and/or super finely ground grain could have caused ulcers.

But I would bet on the effects of mismatched pigs with too few feeding stations.

How well do you know your breeder? I would consider 110 - 200lbs to be too big a range for a pen of market pigs.

You mentioned breathing noises -- is it's nose kind of twisted off to one side at all?

Ivomec is a parasiticide. It will take most common worms, and also any external parasites. It is quite safe and also very cost effective. I would definitely use it.

Ok will get the Ivomec today. The noise is pretty weird and is just when hes sleeping. The breeder is just a guy i saw selling pigs and I bought 1. They all looked healthy and moved very quick.
