Back from the 2012 Alabama National Fair!

And we are really happy with how our girls did! Out of 17 junior does in her class, Love Song placed 1st and went on to win Reserve Grand Champion Junior Doe! WooHoo! Apple placed 4th and Imp came in 5th. Christmas Carol got 4th place in senior does over 5 years old (she had freshened 2 weeks prior to the show and her udder wasn't full since she had been nursing triplets). All in all, a really good day.

Thanks! It was soooooooooo hot in that arena and we all were dripping with sweat. Whew! They did finally put out some fans, but the goats didn't like it even though the humans were thankful.

Why are goats shaved down for showing? I love my girls all furry! Do they have to be shaved? Don't they get cold at this time of year?
Sorry, I just don't know anything about the goat show world.
