Baymule’s Journal

A few days before surgery, my back was well enough to feed the sheep so I put the buckets in the back of the mule and drove to the sheep pens. I have feed bunks up against the fence and I can just dump the feed over. Then my surgery and I have to start all over. One thing clear, I never want to do this again. I'm highly motivated to behave myself.

My sister likes to remind me that I will get older and unable to do things. I told her that I'm going to continue to do the farm until I can't anymore, then I'll have to figure out something else. I'm definitely not stopping now. My sister and brother had the same father from our mom's first marriage. He also had 6 other children, from 3 other women, and every single one of them had/has health issues. Auto immune diseases and just poor health. My sister has polymyocitus, a rare auto immune disease. It is in remission, but she smoked for years and that doesn't help, she has COPD from that. She also has a piss-pore attitude. she often ends sentences with "I won't be here to see that."

You are what you think you are.

I think I'm SUPER F'N WOMAN
Attitude does matter.

My mother had health issues from her mid 40s. She and my dad separated, she was bitter. I know she was in pain, probably undiagnosed fibromyalgia, but she was always negative. Her father died at 66. My mother said she'd probably not get past 66. Guess when she died? Yep, 66.

My dad was thankful for every day, and even as he got close to 90 he continued being active, busy, moving his body. He said "I've had a good life". He died at 94.

While genetics matter, I think attitude matters more.

I think you are too! 😁

I went to church this morning. I taught my children’s class, 2 lively little boys. The story was about the Israelites marching around the city of Jericho for 6 days, not making a sound, then on the 7th day they marched around the city of Jericho, priests blowing rams horns, leading with the Ark of the Covenant. Then they all shouted and the city walls fell down, except for Rahab’s house. So the boys marched around the room and I told them to pretend to yell so we didn’t disturb others, they “quietly “ yelled. 😂😂😂

Then we had to talk about the wonders of God making the stone walls fall down. I asked the boys if they went outside and yelled at the brick walls of the church, would it fall down? They got a lot of giggles out of that. Then I remembered the picture I had posted on @farmerjan ’s journal of a Texas Dall ram with big curly horns and showed it to them. That explained the priests blowing rams horns perfectly! I always have fun with the kids, sometimes I have more, and it’s always semi controlled bedlam.

I love that story and it's always a favorite with the kids. What a perfect example to show them. 💗

My trip to Greece in September has been not cancelled, but pushed forward to a not yet set date sometime in the future. My dear friend and daughter of the heart has polycystic kidney disease and it is acting up. She has to take 2 infusions per week for months and can't leave and skip a couple of weeks. She enlisted the help of a travel agent who asked her, Do you REALLY want to go there now? Since we have a layover in Turkey, that sounds like good advice. LOL I told Sarah that when we travel we should go incognito and keep a low profile........we could dress in a toga made of an American flag and a Texas flag. She has gone from full time at work to part time, to give herself time to heal. So she booked a weekend in June in Hot Springs Arkansas for herself, her daughter, her mom and me. She called yesterday and of course I told her I'd go. We will have a good time, relax and just enjoy.
