I used 4 cups of Bisquick Mix

2 T. sugar

1 12oz. bottle of beer (I used Corona, but don't tell DH)

Mix together and pour into 9 " x 4" loaf pan.

Bake at 350 degrees for about 50 minutes.

I melted 3 T. butter and poured on the top before I baked it.

This is really good stuff.

Simple and quick, my kind of recipe. I'll have to try it with a different beer though.

And I won't bring up what My Better Half thinks of Corona either!

So what does this bread taste like? Neither DH or I are beer drinkers (actually not really much of drinkers at all in general). I have tried beer once and determined I don't like it. Does this taste like beer? Or does it just taste like a sugary bread?

ETA:I've been tempted to try it but not sure because I've never had something like it.

I think the beer just gives it a yeasty taste.

I don't like beer either. I can't taste it in the bread, it just makes it good.

Give it a try, if you don't like it, you can feed it to the chickens. LOL

I make goat cheese one time and salted it first, didn't work at all, fed it to the chickens, boy were they happy.

I may try it soon then. Can't hurt anything. I will make it when DH is not around and not let him now what it is called. I can bet if I tell him it is beer bread he won't try it. The man rarely tries things with odd ingredients, if he knows they are in there.

I know what you mean. Mine swore when we married he would not eat anything with onions in it.

Period, no discussion.

I make recipes with onions, just not too much, for flavoring. Or use a bit of onion powder. He doesn't know the difference.

Don't tell, unless he asks. (kinda like don't ask, don't tell only backwards. LOL...

I demand that my DH try stuff that he says he doesn't like. Your tastes change approximately every 7 years. He used to hate cantaloupe - now he loves it. I'm still working on blueberries :p

I don't like raw onions, but love them cooked. Won't eat anchovies but use anchovy paste all the time. I could go on. Everything is worth at least one try in my book. I tend to try things 3 ways before deciding I don't like them and then will try again if it's been more than 7 years since the last time.

Making it right now with Honey Brown lager. I'll let you know how it turns out. If my hubby likes it all you beer haters need not fear. He doesn't drink at all & won't like it if it tastes like any kind of alcohol. :) I tasted the batter & it wasn't that beer tasting at all before baking so I'm guessing it's going to be good. For an added twist I put a little bit of honey in the melted butter ;)
