What do you recommend making a better "pet," a llama or alpaca (and which breed specifically)? I currently raise babydoll sheep and would be interested in adding one of these (more of a pet/not guardian). I don't use the fleece, so that's not important to me. I would mainly want a friendlier animal. :D

Lamas are great guardians!!!! Alpacas are better pets though I believe.

I prefer llamas. In my experience, they tend to have a more people oriented disposition. That is not to say that all llamas will make good pets or that no alpaca will be friendly. It's really a matter of personal preference.

Llamas tend to be more friendlier. If you want to be sure, then go to a breeder and buy a friendlier llama. But if you have a lot of time and really work with them, they can come around too.
