Ekg was fine. Surgery went well. First day of being down and its already making him crazy.
Fen has been super sweet and accommodating since his bath and pedicure. Not only was he really cooperative yesterday (to the point when I had to put his shoes on because pavement was really hot, he didn’t fuss at all while I put the front boots on and when I told him not to move, I closed his door went around the truck, opened opposite door and climbed in to put on his back boots, he had not moved!)
His slept with his head on my shoulder while I drove home, and today, there was a load of laundry I needed picked up and put in hamper. So called Boone who didn’t want to, then Fen took it on himself without being asked. Usually he complains loudly if I ask him to hand me anything. Who kidnapped Fen and left this sweet sheppie in his place?
Hope I can get Boone to vet soon, between all Randy’s appts. He’s not feeling good today.
Randy’s doing ok with his new shoulder. He’s not nearly in the amount of pain I expected as my repair was excruciating and they told me it would be 8 mo recovery. They told him 2 mo. WTH? Anyway he’s struggling doing nothing. I put Boones Rex Specs in and went for abother ride down the gravel road, this time with no barrier between the seats, I had him clipped to a harness instead. He seemed to love it. His face in the mirror was hapoy with his head out the window and his tongue hanging in the breeze. He’s great until I slow way down, then he pops the lenses out and tries taking them off.
I’ll take Fen with us to town on the 3rd, then when we have to spend 3 days, I’ll take Boone. Hope things go smoothly
That’s exactly it. When we slow down the excitement disappears and he remembers they are stuck to his face
Fen went with us to town yesterday because I wasn’t ready to test the theory of Boone traveling better, with the barrier removed and Randy fresh out of shoulder replacement surgery. He was a good boy and did all he can, but dragging the big upright walker in and out of the truck
S ( there is a hard top over the bed and Randy insists on leaving the 2 giant totes that take up all the room.) Not worth the effort for short trips like going in a restaurant, so hope I don’t go down in the parking lot as asphalt hurts and Fen can’t stop it. I also can’t reach him to ground myself as he’s little. And when we stop somewhere, he goes to Randy. I really need Boone.
Yet I worry about his anxiety and dog reactivity. It’s stressful trying to decide which dog to have help me, as both present some challenges. The 3 days in Idaho for Dr appts is coming up. I need to decide. Another factor is worrying about Boone when I’m gone. I wasn’t happy last night to find Tom had unwittingly given him all the leftover spaghetti. I’m leaning toward taking Boone and praying no problems arise in the air B&B with the lady having dogs…she has a no pet policy. I told her I have a Service Dog and she ok’d us.
Fen did work hard yesterday
Waiting room
Taking a break n grocery store. I sweat when pain gets bad and it was hot too. (Hyperhidrosis) My face was soaked and it was running down my back like I had been out digging postholes. Not a good look
An exhausted Fenny, after being humiliated having to wear doggy crocks on his feet because of the scorching asphalt, passes out on my pillow for the 4 hour drive home
