I hadn't thought about the cattle getting bottle jaw until I got sheep and started reading up on them. How common is it for cattle to get this? Do the same barber pole worms that affect sheep also affect cattle?

This is the best photo I could find that shows what I'm asking about. Is it bottle jaw, or just skin? Is there something I should be feeling for?

Thanks all!

There are different causes for bottle jaw in cattle--but it's almost always anemia caused by one parasite, fluke, worm or another.
It can also be caused by an injury to the inside of the jaw--a puncture from stiff hay or even a seed head becoming embedded in the soft tissue.

Yes, cattle can get barberpole infestations
