I have a baby alpine goat (approx 3 months maybe 4). We have had her for about a month. When we got her she had a respiratory infection, horrible coccidiosis, and she was extremely malnurished. Had the respiratory and coccidiosis treated by the vet. Been giving sweet goat rations 2x a day lots of hay and lots of grazing. She is starting to put on a little weight but tonight I noticed that her horns are extremely flakey. Seems we just cant get my sweet girl healthy

I'd guess she is older by the horn growth. Are you supplying minerals in the form of a goat block or loose minerals? If she was ill it might take time. You can put lotion on the horns but I don't think it's necessary.

I have 3 Billy blocks set out but I'm thinking loose minerals might be a better way to go. The farm I got her from said she wasnt old enough to worm until June 1st so by that she wouldn't even be 2 months. I don't know. They didn't take very good care of their animals. I was happy to get her out of there. Would taken them all but she was the only girl..

Do you have other goats? I also add a tablespoon of baking soda every couple of days to my goats grain for good ruman.
